The All - Encompassing RACHEL STEVENS thread
« Thread Started on Sept 16, 2005, 5:43pm »

I think this desperately needs to be done!

As an avid Rachel fan myself, Even I am getting pissed off with a new Rachel Stevens thread every time she has a sausage sandwich!

OK I'll start. she's lovely isn't she. Has anyone seen the calendar in the shops yet? I had a look at it and there's no preview pictures on the back cover. Surely thats slaughtering a Cash - Cow with any Lads, searching for a nice "Wank Fodder" monthly guide to 2006, overlooking the lovely Ms Stevens??

I've seen all the pics inside the calendar - I could swear she's showing a nipple in September...

Come on, get on with the exciting chat - you certainly had enough to say when there was four or five Rachel topics floating around the main forum!

Is it true that 'Secret Garden' is a Kylie reject? I really like it.

A collection of my friends came over tonight, and we were playing random shit on my computer, and they started listening to Rachel. They Skipped over "I Said Never Again", loved "So Good", "Funny How", "Secret Garden", and "Nothing Good About This Goodbye". Half liked "Negotiate with love", "Every Little THing", and "Crazy Boys". They likes "it's all about me" (which shocked me) and they really really loved "Dumb Dumb" and "I WIll Be There". I was impressed with it. Makes me think Rachel really should be shipped to the USA.

Am I the only one that thinks Every Little thing sounds exactly like Sweet Dreams My LA Ex at certain points? The guitar twang thingy is exactly the same.

Good idea for a thread. So many opinions about so many things on one ickle person.

The new video
Great idea but they could have made it so much more interesting. No play on lesbianism, no shower scenes and no Claire King.

The leaked album
Quite brilliant. It's shocking to think how much this is going to be ignored. The people who claim is pop is dead are the same people who refuse to listen to this because it's Rachel Stevens. Cocks. Nearly everything on it could be a single. A single that probably wouldn't do very well, but a single nonetheless.

Nothing Good About This Goodbye
At least those of us who care will always have the Alexis Strum original demo. But this really isn't that bad. It's still Nothing Good About This Goodbye after all.

God I hope she's never dropped.

People will get used to Nothing Good...

The more I listen to this record the more I HATE Je M'Appelle - ti doesn't fit the record at all. At least Secret Garden has Club Nouveauish sound on it (that reminds people of Kylie's last album). I would ditch It's All About Me too- bland 90's music. The album doesn't need that many songs anyway.

I agree. I can handle Je M'appelle (her vocals are pretty horrible too), but I can't stand All About Me. It's boring and uninnovative.

Funny, as soon as I started reading the bitching for "All About Me" It starts playing. I think Showtime got it right by saying it's boring and sounding like a 90's hit.

I would have liked Rachel to go off into the lesbianism for the video, or something rauncy. Sweet Dreams My LA Ex was fucking awesome with it's sexual references disguised as a dance routine, and I miss it. It looks like Goodbye is the next single, so this means that there probably won't be any sort of need-to-be-censored-like-the-Tatu-video-ness to it. Although I'm sure I can hear a gunshot blasting right before the torn-esque line comes in. Ooh!
I really wonder if it would benifit Rachel to release a fifth single off the album. Crazy Boys would be great, but I'm really longing for an artsy video for Dumb Dumb about suicide. I totally wish I could direct the video, but sadly living in the USA limits me.
And finally, yes, Rachel is ready for USA now. And I can see her doing a Steps or S Club by combining her first two albums into one and releasing Sweet Dreams My La-Ex, Some Girls, Nothing Good About This Goodbye, So Good, and possibly another single (like ISNA or NWL -I'd vote NWL) as a final 5th single. Then the rest of the videos putting on a DVD and selling those like mad here too. It would work.

Anyone else notice Rachel's post-Some Girls obsession with oral sex? "Every Little Thing" talks of being on her knees, as does "Funny How."

X really got into her head, huh? Maybe if all of her singles are about BJs she'll have a huge string (no pun intended) of #2s (no pun intended).

Why does everyone like her? She is totally rubbish. Can you actually see her doing a tour LIVE if her album does well? she'll be miming all the way through. Rachel is only surviving in the charts 'cos of all those sad men that fancy her.

Nice.

So that's £10,000 the music industry has lost already.

That would pay a juniors wages for a year.

A junior who could of been promoted and become the next pop svengali.

Oh well. Don't blame the industry is this one flops then.

thats quite funny because rachel has done TONS of live concerts with sclub where she sang LIVE. she's done it before, so she can do it again. mcfly sucks big time. they are only surviving in the charts 'cos of all those sad girls that fancy them.

I have finally warmed up to "Secret Garden", also "Funny how" & "I Will Be There" are most certainly the best songs on it.

It WILL be a shame if this doesn't do well, and it's an even bigger shame that people won't listen to it purely because it's Rachel... But I hold high hopes that it still could do rather well/okay...

Wishfull Thinking? I guess 'only time will tell' really.
