well who would have thought it... this week Dannii minogue has recorded her version of this cheesy classic pop song!! Its been produced by her long time producer terry ronald for an original compilation album thats being made. And its apparantly a completely different version to the original, and pop!s cover... dannii's version is of a slow electro style, and sang in a different key.
Cant WAIT to hear this one!!

But the original was perfect! Has anyone seen Xanadu the movie? ONJ plays an angel who works in a rollerdisco. It's the campest thing EVER. Unless Dannii does a soft focus video and wears rollerboots I'm not interested.

This is one of my favourite movies and soundtracks. I have the vinyl! She actually plays a Muse (one of the 9 daughters of Zues) named Kira who inspires the two guys in the movie to 'make Xanadu happen'. It's sooo gay and sooo bad, but it has a fab soundtrack and ONJ in leg warmers and rollerskates, so it's okay by me.

Watched it this week... I thought after years of belting the song on dancefloors/bar stools/my front room it was about time I saw the film.
And what a film... in a pretty-awful, yet amazingly campily compelling way. I got it for £5.99 on DVD from Amazon btw - worth every penny!
As for Dannii doing the song... shall have to reserve judgement... am still lamenting the POP! version as we all know...

Isn't Olivia awesome in it? The opening 'I'm Alive' number is wicked; I remember copying the dance moves to that.
I LOVE the rollerskating scene at the end with the "clap, clap, clap-clap-clap,clap, clap XANADU!"; the music is great but alas is not on the soundtrack., neither are any of the songs she did at the end.
I used to think the guy was hot. Christ.

I longed for a roller skating-cum-nightclub like that for years... just so I could skate around clapping my hands behind my back in search of a Gene Kelly of my own. And the ELO soundtrack is pretty freekin awesome too...

I cannot wait for this. Dannii really is one of the most exciting popstars out there at the moment. I think this will be truly fabulous. Perfection, Lovefight and You Won't Foget About Me are all brilliant, can't wait for the album!

i think "i cant sleep at night" is out in january, with the album straight afterwards. its a pity "perfection" just missed out on the top 10...hope ICS will be a better song, from what iv heard of it, it is. or who knows... "xanadu" as next single?!? stranger things have happened...

Xanadu is for a different project, my understanding is that Terry Ronald and some mates are recording/producing an album of electro-style covers under the name 'Thriller Jill' and Dannii did this as a guest vocal I think. Would be cool if it was used as a single from their album though!
