I read in a newpaper yesterday that Gareth sat Simon Cowell down and told him he wanted to be 'like Justin Timberlake'. God, when British pop artists feel so inferior to American ones they want to copy them, the UK pop scene is in trouble.
I never liked Gareth. Never. he came across as very plain, very boring. Like his songs, I never gave him a chance. Why should I? He bonked Jordan too. He shoved it up her love tunnel. I couldn't take him seriously ever. Never. Never!
But why do you all hate him? I know you do.

I don't hate him, but I don't believe every bit of nonsense written about him by Victoria Newton.
I've read in actual interviews that Gareth said he wasn't trying to be like Justin, but he liked his album and took some inspiration from it, but says his musical influences are more George Michael, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. But don't let that stand in the way the assumption he wants to be like Justin. It didn't stop Victoria Newton. Victoria Newton also said he was going to release a hip-hop album after he said he liked Nelly. I didn't believe that one either.
Shagging Jordan wasn't the cleverest of things to do, but the whole thing lasted a couple of months and was over two years ago, and he's unlikely to make the same mistake again.

1. Gareth is shite.
2. The hackneyed and desperately unamusing 'joke' in the thread title is ten times worse. Even the cringe-making Anna-rexic one, previously an all-time nadir, could actually pass for biting satire by comparison.
I think someone's not trying anymore.

As much as I applaud his enthusiasm (I mean this - I'm not being sarcastic), he hasn't got the personality to be like Justin. That's not to say he hasn't got the personality to be a popstar though, I must stress.

A quote direct from Simon Cowell so where you get that stuff above me from I don't know. Although I agree that Vicky Newton is a bit of a publicity ho. 1. Gareth is shite. 2. My mate dragged me along to Gareth's concert earlier this year and I hate to say it but he rocked. I wasn't expecting much but I was blown away as was most of the huge audience at the arena in Manchester. His voice was really good and he played the drums guitar and piano. He was the dog's bollocks as his lovely friend Jordan would say.
After seeing him live I reckon he's one of the most under-rated talents in British pop music today so there.

He shoved it up her love tunnel. I heard that the phrase she prefers to use is "tickling her baby's head" (as she was so heavily pregnant at the time). Gareth reminds me of someone walking around on their birthday who expects that at any moment all of his friends and family are going to jump out from behind the sofa and throw him a surprise party. But the sad truth is that no-one has remembered. Send him to the Dumper for Crimes Against Elvis.

Just thinking. I'm bloody grateful that no-one went to the press with my first attempts to have sex with them. I would have had to leave the TEXT planet. Just had another thought- would he have still worn a condom even though she was already up the duff? With her track record I suppose so.
Gone off topic but still think he is pretty hot. Hmmmm. Pity he's straight.

I don't hate him. I downloaded his Korean concert, which got shown on TV out there, and the drumming is amazing, it's not like some artists can learn a few keys on piano and play a song, u know he's good at it. And downloaded a clip of him on guitar and he was really good .. apparently this is his strongest instruments but he never really plays it, more piano.
I think he's been very poorly managed, but I think he has got one more chance, and he needs to make sure that he releases an amazing song accompanied by an amazing album. I just saw a video from his official website, says he's writing stuff for the album now (think he's been doing that for 2 months), and he turns 20 next week.

As much as Gareth blinds us with his talent, and "genuinely nice to his fans" actions - he still bores me.
He's not a popstar. If I wanted a nice, talented singer - I'd become a Daniel O'Donnell fan.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Jordan's nether regions made his willy bleed when they had sex?
This has nothing to do with his music and everything to do with my perverted fascinations with celebrity doodles.

As far as I am concerned he's a talentless, miming prat, with a very weedy weak voice. Hey, if everyone liked the same, the world would be a very boring place ..... so vive la diference!

I suppose you are entitled to think he's talentless and even think he has a weedy voice - I'd disagree on those, but it's subjective. However how can you harass him for miming? He does the bulk of his tv promotion live and all his concerts and roadshow appearances are live and he sang live every bloody week on Pop Idol. I know from my excursions around the internet there are people who claim he's mimed when he's definitely been live and there were even people spreading rumours he mimed on tour, but they were entirely made up and untrue.
As you are one for conspiracy theories when someone is rude about Will, perhaps you can come up with one for why people might go around lying about Gareth?
I don't think there is an artist regularly discussed on this site who hasn't mimed from time to time and he's definitely stronger vocally than most who seem to escape this criticism.
You might want to check out my thread on the people who come on here only to praise one artist, except to perhaps slag off a few rivals and make boring comments about miming. Very apt.

You're right Fluff, Snoopy (apt name) only comes on here to big up Will or slag off Gareth. What a saddo. I wasn't a fan of Gareth until I saw him live and he was wicked. His voice was fab and the audience (of around 11,000 went wild). I came out well impressed along with thousands of others. He is also mega-cute and a nice guy by all accounts.

He didn't. Says in her book. She also says he was worried that she might get pregnant with his baby at the same time if he didn't. And Dee (Re: the bleeding willy thing). Yes it did. It sounds rather painful. She said she assumed he'd cut or damaged part of the foreskin. Ouch!

......and don't you just love the sensitive way that she chose to tell everyone??. So lovely to have your first sexual fumblings at the tender age of 17 discussed by all and sundry Fair enough, but he wasn't exactly a gentlemen to her either. Lied about shagging her then did admit it but still claimed that it was all her. She may have been a bit pushy (or rather, very pushy - this is Jordan we're talking about) but she didn't rape him, he could have told her to fuck off at any time. Chronically shy or not, there's not many 17 year old boys who would turn down the attentions of Jordan. As cruel and immoral as she has been, I'm sick of seeing people pour all the scourn over Jordan yet let little baby Gareth off because he was only a little boy led by a nasty old woman. They're almost as bad as each other, except Gareth has kindly spared us the details. Anyway, where is he? He can't have been dropped, can he?

I am sure he enjoyed every minute ( apart from the painful bit) and learned a lot....... Just not approprate to use the details to sell books / magazines / her profile IMO Anyway, where is he? He can't have been dropped, can he? and no he has not been dropped (Yawn), but that's been discussed ad nauseum on these boards and its so much easier to believe the tabloid rumour-mongers

Just not approprate to use the details to sell books / magazines / her profile IMO I quite agree, and I would give her a slap for every story she sold on Gareth. His dick started bleeding during sex? Oh thank you Katie, just what I want to hear. Please, tell me more. How big is it to the nearest decimal place? Would you say he groans louder than Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon? Is there some sort of video I could invest in, so I know the full story? Jordan is a twat of the highest order and deserves every insult under the sun for what she did, but Gareth shouldn't get a metaphorical sympathetic hug because he had willingly had sexual intercourse with evil Jordan who is incapable of human feeling, whereas Gareth is a fluffy angel because he, like, wore a white suit in one of his videos. He may not have been dropped, but where is he then? There's no single on the release schedule horizon. I hope he's brewing up something brilliant to make his comeback with. 'Sunshine' was excellent, it would be great if he came back with more of the same but I fear it won't happen, since it wasn't as successful as 'Unchained Melody version 3874.8' and 'Anyone Of Us'. Damn and blast.

I don't think we are disagreeing here at all. In anwer to your "where is he" question - there is a thread on the Links Spam and Street Team c**tery bit of p/j that is called...see Gareth waving his arms about a lot and having nice hair. have a look at that....he is writing for his next album and working with lots of producers etc etc, inclusing the one who produced Sunshine. One of the producers has talked about him on a Dannii Minogue web site, and there is a link to that too. It seems that his new stuff will be more Sunshine than AOU.....hoorah Sorry that is a bit convoluted. If I was intelligent enough to know how to do links I would provide them EDITS to say .......This might or might not work popjustice2.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=links&action=display&thread=1089449237

I feel really sorry for Gareth. "Anyone of Us" and "Sunshine" were great pop songs, the latter being one of my favourite songs of last year (not at the time, I was a hater, but later on in the year I became a fan). He needs to steer clear of covers and ballads, and covers of ballads, and make more "Sunshine"-esque tracks. I was tempted to buy his album because it was reportedly quite good but then I decided against it. Gareth should do some Sugababes-type music; a little bit edgy, catchy, pop with a twist type of music. You can't say he cant sing because he was consistent every week on Pop Idol. He may not have the strongest, most versatile voice but he is a lot better than many of the other acts out there today.
