I can't believe they've just reduced the singles (oops, sorry "Tracks") reviews to separate reviews for each song (and increased the price again - it's almost double what it was 5 years ago). The singles page was great.
The only thing I really enjoy reading in NME nowadays is Peter Robinson Versus.
He seems like a humorous chap, maybe we should try to get him to write for Popjustice?

The singles page was great. But Tracks is twice the size of the old Singles section, which can only be a good thing, surely?

They always managed to get a laugh out of it. But I can see why the 'Singles' format was beginning to feel slightly dated. Still, they could have included dowloads or airplay tracks and still keep a single person to do the job each week. Besides, the Peel issue is fantastic. The ad page bought by the BBC as a tribute (almost) moved me to tears.

The singles page being at its best with a single reviewer, the possiblity of having Tracks AND Singles, the Peel issue and the advert.

The thing I find with NME is that there is always one amusing/interesting article and the rest can bore me to death. Since its an Indie paper, alot of the opinionated twats that write it think themselves all high and mighty and that their views are more sacred than thou. Those sort of articles dont appeal to me at all. Then again, I usually end up buying it because of who is on the cover.
But the centre pull-outs are always good - some cracking photography always comes from there.
And I agree that the McFly article a month ago or so was slightly strange - probably a stunt to get more people to buy it (fangirls buying into everything about the band). I must admit that it made for some good reading though (re: ludicrous banners!).

isn't the editor about 12 with bad hair? he's always on those top 100 thinbs on channel 4, saying how crap a great song was.

I'm still bitter they missed off my photo credit in the Yearbook. Bastards! Is it still a Popjustice extravanganza, as it was last year? I'm toying with the idea of ordering it online, since it obviously won't be distributed over here.

Is it still a Popjustice ecxtravanganza, as it was last year? Unfortunately not. Which means I haven't even got round to reading it all yet. There are a few PJ gems though. But it does have a fab Scissor Sisters photo in it.

I normally defend NME against it's many critics, despite having problems with it myself. But I have to ask, why has it been so ridiculously thin the last couple of weeks? What could be the reason/ excuse for that? It's nothing to do with keeping it dumbed down for it's audience. Seems like pure laziness.

NME were the only music publication that didn't maul Madonna's Bedtime Stories album so I've always loved them for that. And I always preferred NME to Melody Maker.

Speaking of the NME, what the fuck are they playing at nominating Pete Doherty for Hero of the Year. If a drug addicted walking carcass is considered a hero then I'm leaving the country by the nearest exit.

At least he didn't actually win I suppose, but the NME Awards yesterday were pretty laughable in general. What with The Others winning a Musical Innovation award and Best Website going to themselves and all.

I hate the "worst band" and "worst album" etc etc thing. What's the point? Anyway, since Brandon won sexiest man I'm happy.

I hate the "worst band" and "worst album" etc etc thing. What's the point? That wouldn't be because Busted scooped both those awards, would it? I bought my first issue of NME last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since Smash Hits went to shit I have an opening in a regular magazine to add to my rotation. This week we get a free cd as well, which is always nice. P.S If Pete Doherty keeps off the drugs, I would.

Pete Doherty without the smack is Nicola without the Ginger. Think about it....could he write songs like Can't Stand Me Now without an injection or two from time to time?
He's doomed whatever.

Think about it....could he write songs like Can't Stand Me Now without an injection or two from time to time?. I'm sure we will find out. I don't think that his whole songwriting and musical ability is down to Heroin. In fact, I'd put a lot of money that it isn't. He has a natural talent, and I personally will be interested to see where it takes him.

That wouldn't be because Busted scooped both those awards, would it? Not really, I was expecting that Busted would get those but when I saw that Keane were nominated in such categories I didn't like it.I've bought the NME several times and I have to say it's pretty much biased.

.I've bought the NME several times and I have to say it's pretty much biased. That's one way of putting it and that's why it's so great. The NME is a bit teenageindiejustice in my view.
