No, I'm confused as well. James hasn't got anything to do with FuckingShite. It's Smug Sim.
I have a heavy feeling in my stomach. It's either depression or my undigested pizza.
I'm going to go with the former.

Isn't there a law that says the one who gets out first is the one who has the most success? Dear God NO. I thought that was only when the rest of the group decides to continue. - or so I like to hope...

I don't see why people are wishing Fightstar do badly - it seems Charlie left because of all the success and screaming fans. I'm sure he'd be much happier in a band that was still quite 'underground'.
He does look smug in the photo. No one can deny that his body language during the press conference was completely the opposite of James and Matt's. They both look like they've had all their dreams smashed, whereas Charlie looks smug and self-satisfied, relieved at best.

IT IS NOT A SMUG EXPRESSION! It is merely a nervous smile of disbelief. Charlie has not killed anybody. Get a fucking grip of yourselves. *expects a suicide headline in the next 24 hours to disprove her point* Bridgey xxx Thank you, Bridget! A voice of reason if ever I heard one. He doesn't look smug at all to me. Nervous, mumbly, relieved to be able to do what he really loves...typical 19 year old boy. Not exactly the most verbose creatures in the world, whether they're in a band or not. For heaven's sake, people, it's a band. A band we like, yes, but just a damn band. He's just a 19 year old kid. There will be other bands. Calm down, dears, it's only a commercial.

Well I still think he was pretty selfish to smash his "best friends" dreams like that.
I read some of the stuff said in the conference, and I don't know how correct it is but in one bit when asked what they thought of fans being angry with Charlie, Matt doesn't defend him at all, which I think is great.
He could have said something like 'Ooh no we all respect Charlie for his decision and he's still a best mate etc...'
But he said "I can understand that a lot of people are going to be pissed off about this. I feel really bad that we didn't let them know the way we wanted to let them know. There was speculation that we knew by the last gig of our tour and that never happened, if we'd have known then we would have made a much bigger deal about the last gig." I wonder if they both hate Charlie now (like I do mwahaha!)
It makes me feel so sad when I remember all the times in America or Busted when Matt and James were talking about their hopes for the band in America and how it wasn't long ago that they were sat in James' dinning room writing songs. Busted was their baby, and 'Shithead Sim' ruined it all! I like how someone called him villain of 2005...I totally agree!!
(I know I'm over-reacting, like someone said it's only a band...but its a band who got me through some bad times! I know that sounds typically teenie, but it's true.)
He well deserves his place in the Clowns and Idiots of Pop.

i'm taking advantage of this smiley while i can. for me, there won't be other bands. every other guitar-based pop band will just be a cheap imitation in my eyes; yes, i know they weren't the first guitar-pop band to ever exist, etc etc, but they were the first one that truly mattered to me. rooster....meh. noise next door.....ugh. so bad there's three of 'em. p.s ive spilt water on my keyboard so apologies for the lack of caps locks and i would have punctuated the 'ugh' after the nnd with an exclamation mark if i could. can someone tell me, once its properly dry, will it be alright, or is is fucked.

Although I was a very big Busted fan, I think it's best they've ended on a high. As Fletch said, a unhappy Charlie is not good for Busted. If his heart was no longer in the music, then he shouldn't be making it. It annoys me when artists make music that they don't like themselves. People say Charlie shouldn't he joined Busted, but he was just a kid, and still is. He hasn't ended the career of James and Matt because they are two very talented young men, who will go far. Anyone who has seen them live will see the energy and charisma that Matt posesses, and James is a gifted song writer.

Charlie should have left before they started talking about a third album. This is the most horrible part, the fans were waiting for new songs.

*does suicidal swandive into the debate*
RIGHT!, we've established that Charlie is a cock!, NOT because he left Busted, but the manner inwhich he done it. Effectively trashing the band and music that has helped you get to the lofty position inwhich Charlie occupies is just wrong, and symptomatic of his I-read-Kerrang-magazine-don't-you-know mentally. Fucker!.
However, can't James and Matt simply start up a new band not called Busted. James wrote most of their songs, and Matt is the most popular. Charlie despite being the front man was always the weakest link, he isn't particularly charismatic and let's face it he can't actually sing, so why can't the other two hire a new member and carry on playing their godawful drivel under a different name. I'm sure I'm missing something, but this does sound a rather simple solution to me.
But to be honest, I don’t really care.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but this does sound a rather simple solution to me. It's not that simple, very few bands who loose a member are capable of replacing them that easily. Although, you have a point about the importance of Charlie to Busted. His heart was never really in it, apparently he didn't get on with James or Matt that well any way. If either of those two had left there is no way the band could have recovered, but Charlie is another matter.
