Even though I dont like mcfly- at all. They DO play there own instruments even I can admit to that. And To say that Busted dont, You have to be blind, or thats just your excuse at a poor argument, because they do Play live, Sure they didnt on some shows like popworld *early years, not late* and Top of the pops saterday but when your on a show like that they sometimes cant have you playing live, simple as, that dosent mean they dont play live though.
If you'd have gone to see Busted on tour either the last one, or the one in march that would be pretty obvious to anyone.
Sure some boybands like Phixx take the total piss and are complete shit, but *shrugs* Not all POP is good.

u can all have ur own opinion about boybands(blue, phixx etc) but leave mcfly out of it, they do play their own instruments live, they do sing live and so what if they aint good looking, u all judge them coz of what they look like but thats aint wot its about, its music m-u-s-i-c not looks, so if ur gonna slag any boybands of tryin sum shite like westlife. Would it hurt you to spell words correctly? It would help people understand you and take your opinions seriously.

everybody has their own opinion, and i'm ok with that but Tom doesn't have a speech impediment at all, at the very most it's a slight lisp,
and who cares wich one out of McFLY your mate fancies anyway?? It ain't up 2 u 2 decide who she likes or not.
They are a band who play their own instruments and are actually good live, that should be the main factor, not their looks.

Look the bottom line is, I don't really think that you can fairly judge Mcfly's musical talents until you've actually seen them play live. If all that you've seen them play on is Saturday morning tv programmes then i understand where you're coming from, i had that view. However, i then saw them play the Barfly. I have to say i was pretty astounded by how well they performed, i went along not expecting the greatest of shows, but they sounded very together and really quite talented. If they were given the chance to play live more often, arguably a lot of peoples' opinions would alter.

McFly = 4 young lads. Therefore McFly = Boyband. So what they play instruments, doesn't alter the fact they are a boyband and are appealing to teenage girls like Take That, Boyzone etc were aimed at. The boybands have had to move with the times, poor old V were dropped and were your typical boyband, thus showing that what would have been huge in the 90's, is a flop now, so the boybands have had to evolve. Enter McFly.

A boyband exam?!?!? What was that for?! Sounds very interesting. No what it was, was Media studies, it was a critical research topic, you got a whole term to research one topic and then you wrote about your finding in a two hour exam. There was a popular music and youth culture topic and you had to make a question or a hypothesis from it so I did "boybands have a naturally short shelf life due to their audiences demands" I spent ages on in, looking up boybands and their shelf life and the changes in the boy band industry. A week before the exam, busted split, they say if you relate to recent event, they like it, so that recent to me, and I got a crappy mark (sorry if there was any text talk in that, i was typing fast and didnt notice) There were other topics as well like crime and the media, sports and the media, children television, etc, but dude, I had to choose the music one, I'm a pop freak!

Psst - you can also have great fun with General Studies if you do it at A Level, in the Arts and Humanities paper. I managed to ramble for a whole page about Justin Timberlake once, and then in the next question I name checked Busted and a1. I couldn't stop it happening, it just came off my pen...

You know, I only just read this topic for the first time and I haven't really gained a lot from it, but here's my two penn'orth - we need a boyband who are like Girls Aloud. Five-or-so distinct looks and personalities, with genuine "attitude". Not "oh, i've got a guitar, aren't I cool". Real pop, but real music too. The closest we've got so far I think is NSync's Pop album. I realise that was pre-GA but you get my point. If a new band had recorded that album they would still be around now. Sorry for my drunken ramblings, hope they make sense to someone... By the way, on a purely fanboy level, SOMEONE else around here must like Joey Fatone? Anyone? Oh, OK then.

yes mcfly are great
and if you knew anything about television (the only place they mime instruments) then you would know that its not always possible to play live and rarely do shows have the time or equipment to allow bands to do so.
I have seen them live and know for a fact they play.
Otherwise what would be the point in the drummer as he doesnt sing.
Your argument is completely un backed up and stupid.
Go home x

It's a tragic misconception that just because a band can play musical instruments they must be hugely talented and worthy of everybody's adoration.

It's a tragic misconception that just because a band can play musical instruments they must be hugely talented and worthy of everybody's adoration. Personally, that's not what i'm saying. What i am saying is that i was pleasantly surprised by McFLY when i saw them fully live, as despite previous criticism, they were quite good and seemed to have some talent (which before the gig, i was unsure about.)
