This has really grown on me recently. Boys Wanna Fight is brilliant, should be a single.

The whole album is quickly becoming my favorite cd of all time. I literally worship the song Right Between The Eyes, and have teared up several times durring it. The "Stay Alive My Love" part gets me everytime and it deserves to be a single. I love "why" and "bleed". The video for Bleed is some genuine amazing. Garbage is such a kick ass band

I think it has some of the best songs of their career on, but other than those ones (Boys Wanna Fight and Run Baby Run in particular) I am finding it slowly becoming less exciting over time - sad face. And Shirley Manson's been coming across as a bit of a cunt in interviews lately.
PS: Aside from those few interviews, has anyone seen much promotion for Sex Is Not the Enemy? I do not predict a particularly high chart placement for it this weekend...

HOw do you all think this record holds up 2 months in? I really don't play it very much. I find it a little samey. Some good tracks, but I feel like it's missing something.

At first I found it very samey, it took me a good few listens to really separate out the songs.
My listening order ALWAYS goes:
Skip Bad Boyfriend Listen to Run Baby, Right Between the Eyes, Why do You Love Me and Bleed Like Me Skip Metal Heart Listen to Sex is Not The Enemy and It's All Over Listen to Boys Wanna Fight about 3-5 times on repeat. END.
Never listen to Why Don't You Come Over or Happy Home. The whole things better than I first thought, I like some nice guitar pop, but probably their weakest album to date. I was one of the few who thought Beautiful Garbage was very good though, so what do I know?

Happy Home is genius and was orginally going to be a single.

Funny, I like Metal Heart! To each his own.
Beautifulgarbage was like a great collection of songs vs a real "album" - it is schizo, but I like it. V 2.0 was a genius ALBUM.

My absolute favourites are: Run, Baby, Tun, Right Between The Eyes, Why Do You Love Me, & Boys Wanna Fight. I just love the latter's and in a world where good's not good enough / let's get loaded and kick up a fuss. That particular bit is one of their finest moments. The first 2 would be in my Garbage top 10 easily. - I never stop listening to those.
I really like the title track, however sometimes when she sings you should see my scars it becomes all too real based on the fact not too long ago I seen someone I used to work beside, who had loads of them on his arms, and I just didn't like it (especially when he started talking about it. I think I actually called him a loser. But I did give him a hug when he left, see I am a nice boy really).
It's All Over But The Crying & Happy Home are the other 2 tracks I listen to. I think the latter a really great way to finish it. I think it's grogeous, but I woudn't want it as a single: I like my openers and closers to remain mostly unreleased for some reason.

I've forgiven "Bad Boyfriend" for being a not-so-great leadoff track. It was used to great effect recently in "Veronica Mars," a teen mystery/dramedy series in the States. (If you're familiar with the show, the use of the song has to do with the character Logan -- I should say no more...)

I think they said because they got the help of another producer, but they said they know how Garbage songs should sound, and only they know how to make them ( you don't say).

I still love the album, maybe it's even grown me a little. I'm surprised people dislike "Bad Boyfriend" and "Metal Heart", they're still two of my favourites. I think "Happy Home" may be my overall favourite now though.

There is a taped live concert on TV tomorrow in the USA of Garbage, and I got to see a sneak peek at Bleed Like Me, which Garbage did an AMAZING job with. It's such a great song, and they are so great live.

Woohoo! UK tour coming soon. I'll be watching them in Brum, can't wait. I'm a long-time fan but a Garbage live virgin.
Does anyone know for sure what the next single is? 'Bleed Like Me' should get them noticed again, but 'Run Baby Run' is the other likely one. 'Happy Home' is definately an album highlight for me, and would make a great final single.

I'm hoping to see them in Birmingham too. Do you know when tickets go on sale? "Run Baby Run" is currently on the release schedule. Why, I don't know. "Bad Boyfriend" must be next!

Bad Boyfriend" must be next! But aren't fans not too divided on that one? I like the rush of singles they have released, but it is falling on death ears, really, they need a bit mor epromotion. Hopefully the tour shall go well. I'm kind of gutted, since I don't really talk to any of my Garbage-fan firends anymore so probably won't go to see them. I personally hope they squeeze another one after Run Baby Run so the title track can be released nearer winter time: I think it is way too dark to release right now.

if its all over but the crying does not get released i will cry into my cornflakes.
I actually have a feeling the band will break up after this album and that IAOBTC will be the last single - "baby we're done".

I'm hoping to see them in Birmingham too. Do you know when tickets go on sale? They are on sale from today to members of their Website but I'm not sure when they go on general release. I bought my tickets already for Brum and I'm very excited. I too have the feeling Garbage are nearing the end of their life so I must see them live while I get the chance.

BoyBitch, yeah, there is a divide on that song, but it will grab people's attention. I think "Run Baby Run" is just going to flop miserably. I've gone off it slightly as you can tell.
MadonnaLuva, I also thought "It's All Over But The Crying" would be a good final single, but now I'm not so sure.
Nickinoo, that is exactly why I'm going to see them too. I know the tickets went on sale via their site on July 4th, but I'm not a member as the currency is in $s.

Just ordered tickets for the NIA in Birmingham. Fuck, if someone would have said to me a year ago that I'd be going to see Garbage I'd have slapped them and told them to fuck off.
But yes, I do love Bleed Like Me (the album), my favourites are: Metal Heart I love the way it builds up to nothing. It's a very wierd song, and the big build up for the string bit following is a great. I love the lyrics too. Bleed Like Me Again, great lyrics. The verse about JT is brilliant, the "after two drinks he's a loser, after three drinks he's a star" lyric is the best on the album, I think. It's a really simple song, that could have been a disaster, but it just works. Why Do You Love Me? I wasn't too sure on this first, but I really like it now. It's just a bit of an anthem really. The intro is amazing, with the riff, and it just kicks in. The middle eight works really well, too. It's All Over But The Crying I thought this would be released, but I doubt it now. It's one of those break up songs, which would be really cheesy, but there's something about it that just makes it a bit more classy.
My favourite track at the moment is Right Between The Eyes. It's such an anthem, and I'm glad they ended with it at thier Glasonbury performance. The whole song is just so uplifiting, but quite sad at the same time, but the lyrics are brilliant, and it's just catchy.
So yes, I'd say I liked the album. I'm not sure about the releases from it though. I would have chosen: Why Do You Love Me? It's All Over But The Crying Sex Is Not The Enemy Bleed Like Me
Run Baby Run is quite weak, in my opinion, not single material.

I have NIA tickets too, can't wait. Not an old-time fan then, Mr. Brightside? I think "Version 2.0" will always be their best album, but "Bleed Like Me" is still good. I love "Right Between The Eyes" too. You're right, it's an anthem.

I don't think they'll ever be as cool as they were back in the "Queer"/"Stupid Girl" days, in my opinion. They just had a different sound back then that they seem to be trying to recreate but aren't quite pulling off.
That being said, "Bleed Like Me" is a pretty good album in it's own right. "Bad Boyfriend" is such a hot song.

If they were to make one more album after this one, I have a feeling it could be their best yet. I think they were partly trying to recover on this album from "Beautiful Garbage". "Bleed Like Me" is a fantastic album, but not close to the first two unfortunately. I'd be happy with another re-make of "Version 2.0".
