Seriously. Not that I miss her but in these days of James Cunt and ASDA mums buying the Top 10, she should be rolling up the aisles to the top of the charts.
Where is she then?

She's writing and recording new material.

Not collecting trollies in my local Tesco then?! She's quite rich, so I'd take a stab at her working at the sophisticated Waitrose.

She's working with a more wider variety of producers this time round, and is apparently recording a lot of the album in America, to be released later this year!

Who cares? Is the world not a happier place without her unique brand of whining? Yes. Did you not read my post? I said "not that I miss her" but questioned where she was due to the popularity of her style of music at the moment. I think this is a valid question. Seriously, sometimes on this board the rush to be opinionated is very fucking annoying. It would give an aspirin a migraine. A

I wasn't questioning the validity of your question, just merely thinking aloud. Via a computer.

Ah... the Dido hatred here really saddens me. I adore her! I really can't understand all the shit she gets theses days. It's just one of those easy labels someone adopted, and it spread like wild fire. Now, anything boring or deeply MOR is "the new Dido". It's ridiculous! Have these people even listened to a couple of album tracks? She has some gorgeous lyrics, a lovely voice (in my opinion), and ranges from acoustic tales of girlfriends gone lesbian to dancey songs about shagging and drugs. What's not to like?

Not collecting trollies in my local Tesco then?! Really, if you are going to use that tired old "Behind the counter at Burger King" / "Pushing trollies at Tesco's" joke, you might want to try using it with an artist who hasn't sold more than 22 million albums and worth more than £20 million.

I doubt even them do that, too. There's always Dance Schools to run or PA's to do, right?

Yes, save jokes like that for the likes of Jenny Frost and Noel Sullivan. Or just...save them, full stop. Surely we can all do better than that. Dido's album was on a release schedule for June at one point, but according to Q this month she's still working on it in LA, with a view to releasing early next year. Apparently it's 'experimental' which can only be a good thing of course. If her albums were more like her live shows, she wouldn't be saddled with the 'boring' tag.

I hope it is finished sooner though, I'd rather like some Dido for the end of the year!

Experimental? Ok then. I doubt BMG would let her do some of that shit. They got Rick Nowells on speed dial and that it. I wouldn't expect the album for a while, the last album was delayed so they could squeeze a few more sales out of No angel and apparently Life for rent is still shifting a few units here and there in random countries. The new Bjork? Ha she wishes. Bjork has got more individuality, creativity and talent in her little finger than Dildo could ever have...she's just a receptionist with boring hair and a vaguely pretty face who got lucky due to a combination of a few nice songs, a well connected brother and a shag her way to the top fling with the head of BMG.

Hmm, I think Adrian might be on to something. Anyone who thinks that a female artist can't possibly succeed without shagging record label bosses really shouldn't be here. And by 'here' I don't just mean this board. Same applies to anyone still using the "Dildo" joke as if they thought of it first. It wasn't funny six years ago and it's really really shit now.

Regardless of 'all that' (Dildo, casting couch etc). She's still one of the most overrated and bland artists in the entire world....and don't try and divert attention from that - it's at FACT and don't divert attention from it by attacking me personally, also don't get me started on the fact that Sia has a similar 'commercial' edge to her music, has an amazing versatile voice that could whoop Dido's ass in a sing-off and has sold preciously 27 copies of her last album.

Sia's material doesn't have the mass appeal of Dido's. And what's wrong with someone using their 'connections' to succeed? It happens all the fucking time; Dido's no trailblazer.
Connections can only take you so far, anyway. Talent tends to win out and the fraudsters are usually found out. She's not my kind of thing, but successful artists like Dido are good for the music industry as they mean there's more moolah to spend on signing new acts.

Talent tends to win out and the fraudsters are usually found out. Absolutely. As the urban kids would say 'fake ass bitches always get exposed!' I hate fake ass bitches too. These vile fraudsters that concoct daft stories and pose about in pale imitations of better female artists make me want to scream, especially when music magazines claim them to be 'the next big thing'. I love it when they get torn to pieces and cry when their singles flop, they always get what they deserve. I like some of Dido's material. Stoned from her second album is fab, Thank You is a gorgeous love song and I defy anyone to say Hunter is crap. I like it in the video where Dido follows and confronts her evil pussy stroking double and then hugs her. Only Dido would do that.

Something to fill the gap before Dido returns would be 'Ceylon' by Madita. It's wonderous.

I'm really disapointed to see so much Dido-love on this very page. I thought more of popjustice and this is what happens. It's horrific. I adore popjustice, and Dido surely is not what Popjustice is about! Anyone? I never thought I would have to fight my corner from Dido fans...what next declarations of love for Mr personality Chris Martin and the 'amazing new single' from Katie Melua?

I'm not a huge Dido fan, but I won't slate her totally. She does what she's there to do and does it well.
Katie Melua I don't care about at all.

. I adore popjustice, and Dido surely is not what Popjustice is about! Popjustice is not about vacuous, inane bitching. That's where you're going wrong. Also, you used the 'Dildo' joke. People don't use the 'Dildo' joke in 2006, for much the same reason that they don't answer their phones by rasping 'Whassssssssssuuuuuuuuuup??' Oh, and if the brilliant Sia were selling anywhere near as many albums as Dido, she'd be getting slated left right and centre, not least on this very board.

Dido surely is not what Popjustice is about! Anyone? Well, clearly nothing that anyone says will dissuade you of your opinions but I might add my 2 cents anyway (I've put my money in the slot now - it's too late!). Okay, so Dido is not pop in the same sense that Girls Aloud are, but what other genre of music is she? Classical? Jazz? And I do not accept that MOR is a genre. She's a successful artist who writes and performs the music she wants to, and some of us -SHOCK! - happen to like some of it. There was a good chance of that happening. Now I'm not a huge fan of Dido, I have both albums, but only 3 songs that I like enough to pod. There was a time I adored "No Angel", listened to it loads when I was at Uni. It just kind of fell away from me since, but that doesn't mean I don't remember what I liked about it. Ditto "Life For Rent". The songs of hers I still really like - "All You Want", "Take My Hand" and "Stoned" - I regard as good solid, enjoyable pop music and so might some other people, which would be the reason for all this "Dido-love" you speak of. By the way, one dictionary definition of "bland" - alongside "polite", "suave" and "mild, in manner", all of which I'm led to believe Ms. Armstrong is - is "not irritating or stimulating". Now, clearly she seems to irritate you, so you might want to watch your word usage in future, lest we misunderstand you.

Point taken. Loud and clear. Although if i'm honest I do feel a bit disillusioned about some of my fellow popjustice readers now, and I never seem to agree with any of Maureen's comments although I wouldn't expect to understand in anyway, shape or form where one of the 3am girls was coming from.

Her second album was boring, but I really liked No Angel.
Thank You Hunter Here With Me
Alone are brilliant songs. I was hoping for more songs like Hunter and Here With Me on the second release.
But basically, whenever you get a really big selling act there tends to be a backlash:

Well, I love both her albums - I love "Take My Hand," "Isobel," "Honestly OK," "Here With Me," "Hunter" and "Don't Think Of Me" the most on "No Angel," and I pretty much love every song on "Life For Rent" apart from "Stoned" (although I think it's brilliant live) and "Do You Have A Little Time?" - I also love the tracks she features on on the Faithless albums.
Robbing the Dezan is spot on; it's almost as if people decide, rather than celebrate the artists' success and congratulate them, you have to turn and slate them. It's already started with Corinne Bailey Rae - late last year, she was being celebrated and, as soon as there was an indictation she would be successful, the backlash started.
