I really don't see what is so bad about In The Middle... can someone please explain why it is generally disliked? I don't get it... I love that song! In The Middle is the tune that got me into her! So catchy! Maybe it's the lyrics... something about riddle. Being french, I don't care about that.

I feel like this is all a big rewriting of history. People liked "In The Middle" at the time. I can see why people dislike "Gotta Be You" b/c it's like a dif goup enitrely, but sometimes the angst on this board over NOTHING makes me smile.
edit: Vasilios this post is not directed at you, in case it looks like that. I agree about the songs you mentioned.

Absolutely. It got lots of extra resentment because of the whole Conversation's Over non-release fiasco. At least from me. Also: - the frankly embarrassing video - the shit lyrics - the aforementioned farting There.

Embarrassing video? I love the Jewels (or glitter) on Keisha's face... Heidi's very pink room and Mutya's poledancing.

I feel like this is all a big rewriting of history. People liked "In The Middle" at the time. I don't think it's revisionism, more that those who didn't like it at the time of release were rendered speechless at the sheer awfulness of it. It's taken them time and therapy to be able to speak out about their anguish. Lyrically and musically it sounded as if Xenomania had let the work experience girl have a crack at songwriting. The verses weren't too bad, I guess. The fact that it edged out 'Situation's Heavy' of the release schedule didn't really bother me; I wasn't keen on that one either.

Follow Me Home would be great for a single. It's really epic and I love the bit at the end where Kiesha (I think) does those dramatic backing vocals. I think with a good video it could do really well and should definitely be the next single!

I think they need to make the choir more audible on Follow me home for a truly melodramatic climax, otherwise as far as a single choice goes its quite good.
I wanted Ace Reject but we had Red Dress so thats good enough for me.
Oh yeah, and the vid for In the middle was glossy but boring as hell. The only embarrassing thing in it is Keishas awful repeated ass shake dance.

Unless its a double A, Gotta Be You won't be the next single! According to the Sugababes, at last nights Newcastle gig, the next single will in fact be... Follow Me Home.

i predict the next single is "gotta be you (remix)" followed by a re-recorded version of "overload" and then a greatest hits album and goodbye sugababes.

keisha could be the new shaznay lewis, and heidi could be the new liz mclarnon. oh and amelle can be jenny frost. big success on the way for solo sugababes then.

Agreed, Maureen. Which begs the question, why in fuck's sake didn't Amelle re-record "Ace Reject?!?!?!?"

Given that Amelle is now arguably the strongest vocalist in the group I find this hardly likely! I think joining the group has given her a good platform for a future career. I really am obsessed with the Sugas now in a way I never was before she joined!

Definately Follow Me Home then, they are saying it at all the shows.
They couldn't have looked any stronger together last night at Manchester. Fan-bloody-tastic!

I think Maureen nailed the whole In The Middle fiasco by this:
"those who didn't like it at the time of release were rendered speechless at the sheer awfulness of it."
Maureen, you are not the Bomb The Bass Maureenny any chance, right?

Just because you don't like the song means that In The Middle was a fiasco. It peaked at #8 (better than New Year, Run For Cover, Soul Sound, Shape and Too Lost in You).
Back on the topic... shouldn't the title of the thread be changed to "next sugababes single - follow me home"?

Yes, but New Year, Run For Cover, Soul Sound, Shape and Too Lost in You ALL piss from Everest down to In The Middle. In fact those are some of my very fave Sugatracks. In The Middle It is a terrible song but that it was a terrible Sugababes song, and a single over better tracks is what makes me hate it.

I don't think they will call it a day after the (a?) greatest hits... the tour booklet mentions that "this summer, they are getting ready for the 5th studio album" - which doesn't sound very greatest hits-y...? Maybe I'm gullable, but I believe them.

So you're from Paris? What are you doing liking non-french popstars? Isn't there a french law that you HAVE to only like Johnny Halliday, Mylene, Celine, Zazie, Etienne and various Star Academie contestants? Not a bad law really!

Yes! Most stuff on the Alizee albums is brilliant anyway! Mylene, Zazie, Etienne Daho (hottie!), Helene, Jenifer, Vanessa Paradis, France Gall are all ace. Even reality show people are good in France.
