...Is the tentative title for the next album from Miss Ellis-Bextor.
Completely moving away from the 'indie' sound of the last album, Tripping The Light Fantastic reverts back to the sound of 'Groovejet' along with elements of dance and electro pop.
Mooted first single is a Cathy Dennis and Greg Kurstin song, who were last seen together on P!nk's 'Centrefold'. Called 'Catch You' the song is an electro-pop stomper with SEB purring 'Run to where you want... I am going to find you...' Other tracks include co-writes with Richard 'Biff' Stannard, Matt Prime amongst others. One particular track is looped round a Kraftwerk sample, and another is an ibiza house stomper. Definitely an album to keep an eye out for...

Groovejet was an excellent slice of pop and this could thrust her back into the mainstream. Hopefully it will.

Do you know which Kraftwerk track is being sampled?
I've recently heard about three pop / dance tracks while I've been in bars which sample the percussion from Tour De France.

Oh, goody! I'm so pleased, I recently bought both her albums off eBay and think a visit from The Bextor is just what we need. Read My Lips is just fabulous, as is she. Just out of interest, how did her first two albums do, sales wise?

Don't know what the sales figures are, but Wikipedia tells me:-
'Read My Lips' peaked at #2 and 'Shoot From The Hip' peaked at #19 (ouch).

The first single should be out this summer, right?

!!!
i have heard the cathy dennis demo of CATCH YOU, and it is a STUNNING song.
it reminds me of FROU FROU, if they were a tad more dancey. its very uptempo, almost frenetic...
wow. i am SO excited that she is recording this track!

I guess it bodes well for the Britney tracks that Cathy has done if Sophie is getting some good material. Especially since she refused Can't get you out of my head initially. Looking forward to the Frou Frou sounding track. I didn't realise the last album was such a disaster.

"mooted" first single? Huh? I know what moot means ("moot point") but what does mooted mean as applied to a single?
I would not call "Mixed Up World" indie either.
I sound bitchy without really meaning to. Sorry. Bring on The Bextor.

I love Sophie. Her first album is a really great pop record. It's almost as though her label can't decide what to do with her and thus make her do a really schizo pop record!

I love "Shoot From The Hip" and "Read My Lips" - both are filled with killer pop songs. The album title/potential single news is extremely exciting, especially as she is now on Fascination, who will hopefully be able to invest more time and money into helping her reclaim, and expand, her fanbase!

"mooted" first single? Huh? I know what moot means ("moot point") but what does mooted mean as applied to a single? . moot, as a verb, means to suggest, to bring up for discussion etc. so, in this context, it means the 'proposed single'... ie. likely but not confirmed/decided

Ooh, I hope I spend this entire summer tripping the light fantastic! What a brilliant name. What with confessions on a dancefloor, it's like the gays are being pied pipered back to the discoteca!

She's one Brit star who deserves to go huge the world over! Truly pop but with the kinda credibility that eludes most of our singers, love her.

...an electro-pop stomper with SEB purring 'Run to where you want... I am going to find you...' Is it just me or does this sound fucking awful? I'm sure the album will be fantastic, though. Her first two albums were brilliant beyond words and I can't wait for promotion to get in motion for album #3. Three years is far too long for Sophie Ellis-Bextor to be gone.

It's funny b/c tripping the light fantastic is a VERY old-school phrase. It's the kind of thing my grandma would have said. "Were you kids tripping the light fantastic?"

I think that is kind of the point. Oh! Can't wait. I'm off to Ibiza in August so she'd best pull out the tune of the summer (a la 'If This Ain't Love') or else I'll be so sorely disappointed. Love S-E-B. Was it my imagination or did I hear she was in talks with the Pet Shop Boys?
