Sun Is In The Sky Oh Why Oh Why Would I Wanna Be Anywhere Else?
Is this not the most hilarious, black hearted and gushingly wonderful song about London ever? I love Lily Allen and I bask in her uninhibited cult.

Also, her 'musicalness' reminds me of Kirsty Maccoll. LDN is a song I can totally see KM doing. Alas ... (rip)

Absolutely flat-out wonderful. Probably the best start to any Friday I've ever had in my life. Now if only I was actually living in said part-celebrated/part-denigrated capital, life would actually be perfect.

* Readers, please note:
It is only ever acceptable to cycle on London pavements if you happen to have recorded the best pop single of the year.
Thank you.

She actually does sound a bit like a British (rude mouthed) Nelly Furtado. Which is good since Nelly's decided she wants Gwen Stefani's career.

Good we have Lily now that Nelly's gone quite shit (well, maybe her new album will surprise me after all, but I hate the leaked songs so far). I think Lily will be pretty succesful, maybe even Europe-wide.

I can't see the Nelly comparison myself, nor can I see the Nelly/Gwen comparison, considering Nelly's past in trip-hop, and urban remixes.
I see Lily as a better, female, pop-pier version of The Streets.

For some reason, when I listen to this track I find myself thinking of Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
I am loving the track. Very catchy. I was singing it in the sunshine all day yesterday

She's mates with Jamie T, who is (ignoring the NME and their 'one man Arctic Monkeys') heavily influenced by the great Dury. He's got his album out over the summer as well.

When's the single out? Or is it so limited I just can't find it anywhere?

I think it's only out on a limited 7 inch, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on iTunes as well, might be able to scrape the charts.

There's quite a few mp3s floating around on the net already. Here's what I've found so far:
LDN Nan, you're a window shopper Knock 'em out Sunday morning Smile Shame for you Everything's wonderful
The last title sums up the batch quite nicely. Yes, I love Lily. Where have these come from though? Are these from an album (sampler)? Demos?

She mentioned on her MySpace blog a while ago that some tracks had gotten on to Limewire somehow. These are all the tracks that have appeared on her MySpace page over the past couple of months, so there must be some magic way of getting them off there even if they're not up for download.

People record the direct stream as it comes out of their speakers, in analogue. That's why they're all a bit rubbish quality-wise. Apparently, she's been booked for "Top of the Pops" and "LDN" will be officially released on CD and everything in July, ahead of the album.

So nursery rhyme ish.

I direct stream from my speaker output into Wavepad on my laptop and end up with CD quality versions which are, all told, pretty damn good. This won't stop me from actually purchasing the songs went they're out on CD, but I couldn't live without LDN on my iPod in the meantime.
All 4 of the MySpace songs are great, so hopefully the eventual album will deliver as well.

The songs on Lily's MySpace are, at best, 64-96kbps in bitrate, so, even with polishing up, would not be CD quality (or even what is perceived as "close to CD quality" at 192-256kbps).

Confused. I have found two Lily Allen MySpace thingies. One has Nan You're a Window Shopper and Smile on and the other Little Things (which is bloody gorgeous).
Are either (or both) her proper MySpace? They both say she is from the USA. Surely not?

I love Alfie! Lol. "There is no need to swear. Please don't despair, my dear mon frère". I can see Girls Aloud (calm down now) doing 'Knock 'em Out': "You can't knock 'em out, you can't walk away. Try desperately to think of the politest way to say: Just get out of my face, just leave me alone; and no, you can't have my number 'cause I lost my phone. Go away now. Let me go. Are you stupid or just a little slow (please bugger off)". Sigh ... I wish guys made moves on me so I can say something like that ... I hope she doesn't become the Rachel Stevens of the indie/pop/ska world: cool tunes, great album and an enormous flop.
