The Geri comeback starts now - give it 12 years and she can be the pushy nobody showbiz mother it was always her destiny to be. Like in "Gypsy".

I wonder how motherhood will affect her? She'll probably release yet another revised edition of her autobiography about it all. Revised? I'd put money on her being halfway through writing a whole new book by now... Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Stella is rubbish name.
Aside from the beer thing, it brings Streetcar to mind. Maybe when Stella is naughty Geri can go all Stanley on her (not rape her, just shout blood curdingly "STELLAAAAAAAA!!!" screams).
To clarify, no rapes.
Plus, she's a celebrity *cough*. Stella is (near) normal. Her child should be named something strange. Ginger. Spice. Jerry (and she would!). Falange. Sertab. You know, something quirky...
I just can't understand why anyone would want to name their child after a beer and/or a literary rape victim.
Though, people in glass houses... and all that... my name is Greg.

Aside from all the madness of this thread- congrats to Geri. Do we officially know the name yet?

It wasn't Stella who was raped; but, rather, her sister Blanche. I like Stella. It's feminine (none of this unisex or Toni with an 'I' shite), traditional and not Apple or Moses. Whoever said Geri should do Gypsy: perrrrrfect! I can totally see her playing the mother in about 2 20 years. She should start taking singing lessons NOW. I enjoy Geri. Sorry, but I do. x

It's a nice name and it isn't as stupid a name as most celebrities give their kids. That said, the drink of the same name is also known as 'wife beater juice' by some...

That said, the drink of the same name is also known as 'wife beater juice' by some... Stella Artois, yes? Really? Wife Beater Juice? Here in Toronto it's considered a 'chick beer'. I only ever see women drink it. I've just thought of something HORRIBLE! What if Geri writes a song for Stella! Called Stella! "I met some rank, mingin' fella 9 months later along came Stella". Or an entire album of lullaby's. Jayzus. You know it's going to happen. x

That said, the drink of the same name is also known as 'wife beater juice' by some... They call it that in the army but I think that it's just a reference to A Streetcar Named Desire. I'm quite glad she had a daughter rather than a son, but I really don't know why.

Stella is actually Latin for star, if anyone's bothered. That said if you trace any name back far enough it'll have meant some object or job a long time ago. Like Peter means 'stone' and Emma means 'universal'.
Those keyrings/coasters/etc explaining the etymology of your name you get given as a cheap gift from someone usually explain it all.

Yes names were usually given to you according to your profession or by some personal trait or by your father (i.e., Peterson means son of Peter). They were only carried down through males though. Makes me wonder though, if men were taking on names that suited their profession or a personal trait, then that would mean they didn't keep their father's name, yes?

Technically, yes - but we're talking about hundreds and hundreds of years ago, before surnames were really important.

Technically, yes - but we're talking about hundreds and hundreds of years ago, before surnames were really important. Is that odd? Now a man's surname is considered sacrosanct and the very idea of him changing it (especially to a woman's) is considered the ultimate in emasculation. Funny. x

I quite like the name..
Aparently acording to the star she has another baby to look after called george... michael
"Despite giving birth to her first child over the weekend, Geri Halliwell is putting up George Michael while he tries to sort himself out and stop falling asleep in cars.
Geri and her mother Anna Maria are said to be adamant that George stay with them for a few weeks so they can look after him in the wake of his police run ins.
An insider told the Star: “George has been under a lot of pressure recently after police quizzed him about two car accidents and he has been pictured looking exhausted.
“George has always been a shoulder for Geri to cry on but now the tables have reversed.
“Geri wants George to be happy and thinks that spending time with her and the new baby will do him the power of good.â€
Geri gave birth to her baby girl, Stella on Sunday at London’s Portland hospital, the father of the child Sacha Gervasi has said of been ‘frozen out’ of the child’s life."
Good god.. geri has practically got her dreamfantasy of marrying him and having his kids.. I laughed audibly at this well it's darn right close enough..
