How fucking amazing is You Tube.
Last week I had a text message from a fellow PJer asking if I'd caught Whole Lotta History on CD:UK. And I hadn't.
But thanks to YouTube some kind person has taken it upon themselves to share it with the world.
People can now watch the video for Your Disco Needs You in the comfort of their own home. And more than one version.
Top marks.

Agreed. Living in the U.S, it allows me to see tons of videos and performances I couldn't see otherwise. It's the greatest invention on earth, next to the iPod.

I started a YouTube group ( here if you want to join) so I could remember where videos were to post on my site a few weeks ago, and since then I've added more than 200 videos - that's just not normal, is it? But it's such a great site! A perfect example of Web 2.0 - it's not big companies providing exactly what they want us to see, it's the public providing what the public want to see. Jessica

YEP, & im a member of yer group! & here's a link to all my vids!& you are so right about the public providing what the public wants to see....so many things there that get such wildly positive reaction that the corporate world has already decided will "never sell"....

I've uploaded a few vids already - I'm the only person to have GA performing Biology on one of those Australian shows, and at last check, I was the only one to have The Arcade Fire's new video.

I love it too. I uploaded an old PopWorld episode, wish there were more on there though.
It's great to watch a video to make sure it isn't rubbish before actually downloading it. Or, seeing really old videos that bring back memories...or really old videos that you've never seen before but everyone on these boards goes on about (seeing as how I live in America) and you want to know what the fuss is about.

I am totally addicted to it. I am loving seeing old videos again and live performances that I never saw before.
I have also uploaded a few and find it amazing how many people view them in such a short time
But what a time-user-up. How can a girl get any work done?

Lukey, I think I love you!
Slightly suspicious of what a flv file is, but I look forward to finding out.

Yes, I was just going to mention there is a programme for downloading them. Inevitable really that some clever technology type would work it out. I don't really bother with it, though - if you can see all the videos you want whenever you want on YouTube, why do you need to download them?

You don't need a program. The video goes into your browser cache as a temporary file (at least it does if you use Firefox). Clear the cache before starting to make life easier. Open some non-Microsoft bit of file management software while the video is playing and locate the file. Then, once playback has completed and before you next (browser) mouse click, copy the file to a folder. Rename it and give it a .flv extension. VLC will play local copies of YouTube videos.

VLC is a must have. A complete slag of a player, it plays anything i throw at it on my mac. There are a fair few music vids on Limewire too - some real gems.

This is probably it: The easiest, most uncomplicated way to capture your video is by bypassing a video capture card altogether and using a USB analog video capture device. Typically, you simply plug your VCR into the USB capture device using the standard composite RCA-type plugs and plug the capture device cable into a USB port on your computer. No need to open up your computer. The device captures your video, digitizes it, and transfers it to your hard drive as a video file. Source: personal-computer-tutor.com/abc3/v21/vic21.htm

An FLV file is a Flash Video. Maybe the L is for Live. I don't know. But it's flash anyway. A quick search on download.com for "FLV Player" will sort you out.

I love watching Music Video parodies on YouTube. I love the Destiny's Child - Emotion one. So funny. From SNL I am guessing.
