I'm really not sure about the video, I love the song but I just imagine the video will, like Madonna's "Music" video, just look absolutely awful with hindsight in a few years. In the future will looks so much funny like now because it is funny. PS: this afternoon the video will be avaliable to download in my forum....section media room.

Just seen the video for the first time. It's all very dark isn't it?

I was fearing that it would be quite embarrassing but they've actually made a rather sweet homage. It's very theatrical and obviously the Can you forgive her? costumes suit that kind of performance.

I like the video and it sends up my favourite video a bit but I am worried that the video undermines the strength of the lyrics and their content by putting a grinning David Walliams/Williams in it. It's hard to concentrate on the song at all in it.

It's hard to concentrate on the song at all in it. I think some people were hoping for a Spitting Image-type video or animated wank-off like George Michael did. Perhaps you should start a petition. Many Pet Shop Boys fans take the inspiration of their songs literally and are fundamentalist about it decades later. If the Pet Shop Boys wanted to be literal, their lyrics would be. But that doesn't make for good songwriting. This video is fantastic. It is a loving tribute to the obsessivness of most Pet Shop Boys fans and makes good fun of them at the same time. Suggested Pet Shop Boys album titles: Fundamental (oops!) Literally (oops!) Here are some nice shorts!

I hope to never see the video again, but that's just because, as has already been established, I have a bit of a "thing" for Neil Tennant and since he's really not even in this...etc. etc.
I do wonder where it will chart.
also, when you're a model about to model shorts (while wearing sandals), don't you think you might make sure the imprint of your cheap tube socks on your man-tanned legs was gone before stepping in front of the camera? Details.

It's not so much the non-literal interpretation of the song that disappoints me, it's the presence of two not-terribly-funny-in-my-opinion comedians doing not-terribly-funny things during the course of it.

Oh, cool. Can't wait to see the whole thing. First impression: great art design. The visuals don't seem to have much to do with the political gist of the song, but maybe that part comes in the last minute-and-seventeen-seconds to be aired tomorrow. They're (Walliams and Lucas) in orange Guantanamo Bay outfits, and PSBs are tied up against their will. Subtle comment on Bush.

I think thats looking a bit deep for stuff that isnt there. PSB are are often ahead of their time but I doubt they predicted Guantanamo Bay back in 1993 ha ha

I've never really liked Pet Shop Boys - possibly because I'm a bit too young to appreciate them fully but I LOVE this song - it's really catchy and I've been humming it all day (badly, but humming it nonetheless)
I really like the video as well. I couldn't work out if David Walliams perhaps had fake teeth in - I don't remember them ever being that goofy before.

PSB are are often ahead of their time but I doubt they predicted Guantanamo Bay back in 1993 ha ha ...but the outfits do look just like Guantanamo Bay jump suits and not actual Can You Forgive Her outfits. Sure the pretense is a cheap send up of CYFH but it's a neat subtle tie in too. I think it is intentional.

You could look at it that way.
CYFH is probably my favourite PSB video. There is some good commentary from the boys about it on their PopArt DVD.

ha ha this is getting a bit anal now. Yes they point out where they have doubles of them but as with most videos the viewer is unaware of it until its pointed out.

I HATE THE VIDEO BUT LOVE THE SONG. IT LOOKS CHEAP AND THE PSB SHOULD NOT LOOK CHEAP, I GUESS THEY'RE TRYING TO REACH A WIDER AUDIENCE ?

I don't think they'll win any new fans with this track to be honest. Not that I think it's a bad track, but it's the kind of thing they always do. I think anyone who's going to buy into them will have already bought into them by now.

The track God Willing is an instrumental by the way. Kinda splits the album in half.

Luna Park's lovely and gloomy. *basks in melancholia*

I think anyone who's going to buy into them will have already bought into them by now. Much as I love the Boys, it seems that they really have forgotten how to write a chart topping mass appeal disco anthem. Why can't we have another It's A Sin, Heart, So Hard or Domino Dancing? I am sure they would gain new fans and do better commercially if they returned to their electropop origins.
