Yep,Sophie's probably one of the few singers who could carry off Neils lyrics with any panache. She's so brilliantly arch and british.

I think the rumour circulated because Mixed Up World was more Pet Shop Boys than anything the Pet Shop Boys have ever done. They didn't have owt to do wi' it though. They'd make sweet music togther though if they did join forces.

Was it my imagination or did I hear she was in talks with the Pet Shop Boys? She (or her "people") approached PSB but they were working on PopArt etc at the time so turned her down. Both Sophie and Neil Tennant mentioned it in interviews at the time.

Sounds fantastic! I got the impression she didnt want to carry on doing pop, so this is reassuring *puts on Mixed Up World*

I'm hoping for a Just My Good Time (Circles) electro extravaganza

With an album title like that, dear god let it be fantastic. I like the idea of going back to a more electro pop sound.

Was just wondering how this info was found out? I'm a massive Sophie fan and none of this is mentioned on her forum.
Aaalllllllllllllllllllllllso, how can I hear the Cathy Dennis version of "Catch You"? Any help would be appreciated!

Did anyone here find the oh-so amusing piss-takes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor in the form of a root vegetable: Potato Ellis-Bextor? That was quite funny, the songs were god-awful but amusing none the less. My particular favourite was Fatal multiple injuries...

I most like the version of Sophie rendered by the esteemed Dawn French. What was that for - Take Me Home?

Mooted first single is a Cathy Dennis and Greg Kurstin song, who were last seen together on P!nk's 'Centrefold'. Is this really a Cathy Dennis song? If so it's her catchiest one in AGES.

with the exception of another day her voice just butchers every song she's come across. how someone can manage to sound nasal, obnoxious, bored, and monotone all at the same time is beyond me.

I've been in love with sophie since i heard "Murder on the dancefloor" and bought "read my lips." It's really light and simple, but "shoot from the hip," is like this intense (no punn intended) party in sophie's head. by far one of the greatest pop albums i've ever bought. I love the U.K ladies, they don't get smashed to death by the american press, so i get to just enjoy them...i can't wait for this cd!!! please please!! an american release!!! don't want to pay 30$ everytime i buy one of her cds, but i will.

Yes, 'cause the UK press is sooo nice to them. L O L. Unless of course you mean that they aren't all over the US press and thus not overexposed there, then yes that's true. That's why I don't understand the whole "anti-Victoria Beckham", ''ant-Rachel'' movement there. But I suppose if they were all over the Canadian press every g-damn day I'd feel different? Who am I kidding? No I wouldn't. xo

"She has become a minor icon to the gay community."
How cute.

How was her last album indie? i personally thought it was more electro-pop than the 1st album!
i hope she doesnt do a Light Years!
Other than that it all sounds quite exciting!

Don't know what they mean by Indie, but her last album wasn't too awesome.
Although 'Mixed Up World' and 'I Won't Change You' are fab tracks.
The Ibiza house sounding song sounds really appealing, hopefully it'll be the next single, it could be this year's summer anthem!
I think this is going to be the best year musically. New albums by Pet Shop Boys, Dannii, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Keane, Emma Bunton, now all we need is a new Kylie album and this would be my favorite year for pop music.

I'm sure I heard her say in an interview that Pet Shop Boys had offered her a track, but she'd turned it down because she would rather have written one with them. Although I've been wrong before, so please feel free to contradict me.
Very excited about her coming back. I thought she was gone for good.

Sophie's already done the indie thing, with her old band theaudience. Who were actually quite good in a jazz-lounge-Cardigans-go-arch-and-English way.

Cheerio, Michael. xxx I think her people asked PSB if they were interested and they said they were too busy. When asked about it Sophie said it would be great to work with PSB but that she would want a creative input into any project rather than with traditional PSB collaborations such as Dusty or Liza where PSB write/produce and the singer just sings. I don't think there was ever actually a song written for her though.

The Pink song isn't a cover of The J Geils Band which is where I think you're getting confused. Also, back on an SEB tip, I've been listening to 'Shoot From The Hip' again and it's so fabvery good. Much too good to be her last work.

Yeah this is true. There is a picture floating around of the 2 of them together in a studio in New York. There are also rumours of Shelley Poole songs as well.
