Does anyone know who's presenting tonight? I'm far too lazy to look it up myself.
Last week, I don't know. The concept is good. It's improved Have I Got News For You? leaps and bounds. But Wossie wasn't very good I didn't think. It's not his fault, I just don't think he fit the role well enough. I understand of course he was never going to come on and try to be like Lamarr (thank heave for mercy) but I think he lacked chemistry with the captains (certainly in comparison with Lamarr) and only really seemed interested in Tom and himself.
It sort of reminded me why I always avoid shows Johnathon Ross is presenting purely because it always becomes the Johnathon Ross Show but with a different format.
I shed a tear for Kevin. Reduced to that. He should be a better version of Robbie Williams by now!

Simon Amstell Tonight
Ricky Wilson next week
Both of which should be good shows.

I admit I was a little disappointed with Tom, but I think Jonathan Ross was just scaring him, poor duck.
Sadly, I am outvoted in my house and it'll be ANTM tonight, no Buzzcocks till the weekend for me. Drat.

I'm not sure if it was just the wine, but I laughed so much.
In principle I should detest Kenzie, and yet every time he's on TV he just comes across so damn well.
Anyone who missed this needs to see the repeat.

I loved the Simon Amstell Edition as well - his comment about feling like a Supply Teacher - It's funny cos it's true!
I think Ricky Wilson is going to be shit though.

Simon Amstell was absolutely fantastic. If it is true that Mark Lamarr has left for good then he should definatley get the job full time.
He was better than Jonathan Ross by miles.
I still don't know what to expect of Ricky Wilson. He is a funny guy but I can't decide if it'll translate into presenting.

Simon had a very bizzarre little smile on his face at times, I dont know if it was forced or a polite laughing smile when other people were making jokes but that kept niggling at me, like he was 110% comfortable but I was still entertained, it was a LOT funnier than last week.
Kenzie was great. I like that he's first in line to take the mick out of Blazin Squad etc. I loved the comments about not wanting his mum to think he was dirty or 'like that'. YOU WENT OUT WITH JODIE MARSH FOR PETES SAKE! But yeah he was good.

I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time. It was hilarious last night and the LOOKS Bill Bailey was giving to Kenzie just made it all the better.

Jonathan Ross can be funny, but he's too overpowering and likes the limelight too much, hence the panel not getting much of a look in, last week. Last night's show was fab, Simon was great! You can watch it online! www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/programmes/?id=buzzcocks

Oh, God bless you for that link!
Simon Amstell was a lot better than I'd dared hope he'd be; Kenzie, as always, was wonderful. (Though is that first seat on the left reserved for young pop-band members open for mockery? I wonder if Charlie will sit there.)

Kenzie was so sweet and unexpectedly sharp. I think Simon Amstell is the biz.

Looking forward to tonight - I saw the trailer for it last night on BBC2 but Ricky only featured for a plit second therefore giving away nothing about what his style will be like.
Just found out that Next Week (April 3rd) Lauren Laverne is hosting and Charlie Simpson is one of the guests.

Thanks for the link-I thought I'd missed it altogether. Is it wrong for me to fancy Nick Knowles?

I should probably check out the Cribs' album. Their second one is better than their first...although Another Number is one of their best songs.

I thought Ricky was good last night and loved the bit at the end where he sung Na Na Na Na Naa but there seemed to be something lacking - although a lot of it is probably down to his inexperience.
Ryan Jarman was blatently drunk but quite funny - although I don't think he realised a lot of the audience were laughing at him instead of with him.

Ricky was very laid back and relaxed. He perhaps didn't have the off the cuff banter but I enjoyed his style. Ryan Jarman was nuts!

just watched this online! i haven't watched Buzzcocks for ages because Mark Lamarr is such a dickhead, but my mum of all people told me she saw Ricky presenting it last night. thought he did a decent enough job.
yeah Ryan from the Cribbs was pretty funny - loved his story about Live 8

Oh what the fuck is this? First Costa comes up with the best song for Eurovision, now he's making me defend him on Buzzcocks.
Respect to him for the chilli sauce remark, but more imprtantly: am I going deaf or did Clarkson really claim that "coat" wasn't a verb? I really wish Anthony were educated enough to rip the piss out of the smug fuck Clarkson for that.
Though he was quite funny in places.

Yes, I thought I'd misheard when Clarkson claimed that "coat" wasn't a verb, but somebody should have taken him to task for that. Otherwise, as much as I don't like him, he didn't do a bad job of presenting. I liked Ricky Wilson a lot too, Lauren Laverne was a bit blah, missed the Simon Amstell one, and Jonathon Ross might as well have been jumping up and down shouting "Me! Me! Don't listen to anyone else, listen to ME!", but then I think that about everything he does. I'm not missing Mark Lamarr at all, in fact I think the show has improved without him.

I think the show has improved without him
i dont think your the first ive heard believe that the last two shows have been interesting, lauren just didnt feel that at home as the host and i didnt really 'get' her, i think she seems more suited to panal work as apposed to leading, clarksons show was fantasti8c though it did seem like a battle for control between him and jim jeffries to see who could pull off the biggest outrage, loved jims story about cocaine and clarksons 'fish fingers and drizzle' remark had me on the floor

I'm starting to draw up a ranking list for the guest hosts for my own personal amusement - with two to go though my current standings are
1. Simon Amstell 2. Ricky Wilson 3. Jonathan Ross 4. Jeremy Clarkson 5. Lauren Laverne 6. 7.
two weeks to go though - Huey Morgan and Dale Winton - I seriously doubt it will be changing too dramatically - however from the preview clips on the bbc website Huey looks as if he could do quite well

Are there only 7 shows in the series?
|
|
|
Post by Kolakube on Apr 17, 2006 8:45:14 GMT -5
As Far as I'm aware yes - I only know of 7 guest presenters so unless there are extra people who haven't been announced yet then Next Week should be the last one in the series. The BBC Website doesn't specifically say it is though.

Dale was hilarious, in a totally out of his depth kind of way. Also he has a serious crush on Phil Jupitus.
