God, I fucking hate them. Whiny-voiced middleaged schoolboys- when it's not excusable for him out of Limp Bizkit, how is it excusable for them? They can't rap, their backing tracks are terrible and they have no visual appeal whatsoever. They're afforded so much respect but everything they've made sounds the same: awful. Ch-ch-check it out? Whatever.

Adam Horovitz is gorgeous, and Mike D always comes across like a genuinely nice guy, but Adam Yauch or whatever is a bit of a twat. Their new single isn't really up to much, but the video was a bit funny at least. I really can't stand Zane Lowe, who interviewed them recently. When he was laughing, he looked over to Horovitz and Yauch for their approval, but they just stared blankly at him. I got their anthology and it does have some good stuff on it. But I do think a lot of their success is down to their image, and their videos.

I think a lot of their success is down to the fact that, while their rapping skills are on a par with Debbie Harry's, they still have some illin' beats underneath them, and they say some very interesting things whilst shouting the last syllable of every line together. This makes their music enjoyable and, well, good. Their songs remind me of playground taunts stepped up a gear. Much like Daphne & Celeste, who were also high-pitched, with some illin' beats and slammin' rhymes. This is why I like the Beastie Boys.

Whiny-voiced middleaged schoolboys- when it's not excusable for him out of Limp Bizkit, how is it excusable for them? i know, it's terrible. they're all pushing 40 and have the audacity to still be in the pop arena and still sell truckloads of records. the only feasible connection i can make between fred durst and the beasties is that they are american white men who rap. is this really the issue here?

Elmsyrup- Have you even listened to their albums?
Listen to 'Sabotage' and 'Intergalactic' to understand their appeal.

They sound dreadful and I've known and hated them for at least ten years now. I like Daphne and Celeste, though. By the way when I mentioned Fred Durst, I meant that their voices have a similar screeching, whining quality to my ears. But then, that's boy's music. It does tend to sound kind of ugly in all its forms and I've never liked any of it- rap, rock, Aphex Twin.

Um, no. The Beastie Boys are very very ace. Or possibly were, I can't decide. But yes. To sum up, no.

But then, that's boy's music. Say what! I think you mean "good music." There's no such thing as boy music or girl music. Actually, there probably is, but all the coolest girls I know like boy music. In short, The Beasties rock! I need to get my hands on the new CD though.
