Arghhh i detest them!
- They sound like every other 'wannabe alternative' uni band - They're bland and boring - They're 2 hit wonders (yellow and trouble) - They are afraid to branch out, every album track is so fucking samey (is that a word?)!

*Protests*
At. Least. They're. Not. Cocking. Starsailor.
Admit it, familiarity and success bred all this contempt?

I really, really like Coldplay. I am such a soppy twat.
Doesn't it always? I know I'm guilty of getting surly at pop-tv-movie stars simply due to their overexposure in the media.

Noooooooooooo not coldplay in the dumper.........not yet. Ok I agree they sound samey but didn't the Beatles/Stones/Who/Oasis
It is called a distinctive sound although saying that I often mistake them for snow patrol. I just happen to like both bands

Whilst I like Coldplay, I don't like Chris Martin who must surely rank as the most boring man and wettest lettuce in music. I dare say that I'd rather chew my own arm off then spend the briefest of moments with this monotonous muppet!.

- They're 2 hit wonders (yellow and trouble) How are they 2 hit wonders when they've charted five times in the top ten and their highest charter is neither of those two singles you've mentioned?

*Protests* At. Least. They're. Not. Cocking. Starsailor. The lady has a point. There are 2 bands in the world worse than Starsailor (Limp Bizkit and the Stereophonics, since you ask) and neither of them get shitloads of undeserved critical acclaim. Coldplay, for all that Chris Martin may be an occasionally irritating Bono clone, have provided some rather lovely moments, and thanks to the new Brandy album have contributed indirectly to a few more. They must stay.

No they shouldn't. They are a fucking boring whingey bandand totally overrated. The opening to Clocks makes me want to scream everytime it comes on the radio.

Yep. 2. Can't argue there. 3. Two squillion selling albums and numerous singles that have charted higher than Yellow and Trouble. So yes, they are definitely on a par with Carl Douglas on the one-hit-wonder scale. 4. True, but in their defence, Chris Martin (the biggest wanker in the world, before anybody assumes I like the man) did just write Jamelia's 'See It In A Boy's Eyes', which would look out of place on a Coldplay album, maybe. For me, Coldplay = good, Chris Martin = tosser. Unfortunately, credit must be given where it is due, and he makes Coldplay's music as good as it is and has a great ear for a tune. But he's still an absolute dick.

Coldplay are really no better than the coma-inducing Dido. Not even slightly alternative, just MOR corporate rock for people who don’t like music and watch Cold Feet for gritty realism. The condescending political advice is not welcome either Chris, especially when you are fucking rolling in cash with your insipid bird and contributing to the future preposterously-named crack addict population. Over-rated, boring, pretentious, badly dressed, balding, etc, etc.

I can't believe it! I agree with everything you all say (or most of it). The only redeeming feature is the video for The Scientist which is very clever. Even better on mute!

I hate them, and everything about them... bar Clocks. It's amazing. Probably one of my favourite songs ever.

I hate coldplay. Their music makes me shudder (not in a good way) and I hate Chris Martin's voice. Although I dislike many musical acts, Coldplay is one of the few I really cant listen to.

They just tapped into the Zeitgeist. Everything has to be full of angst (acca Dido, Coldplay) or else it has to be dinner party background music. Life's too short to make a list of the music in that category right now but will probably include the top 10 selling albums of 2003/4. You get the idea. Where's the nearest razor blade shop?
