Honestly, what are they about? Hip to bloody hip? Cheek to cheek? Crap to crap and (swear filter alert)w@nk to w@nk is what I say. In fact the whole band comprises of w@nkers with Auton like faces.
Kill them off with a virus that targets crap boyband DNA.

To be honest, I quite like Hip 2 Hip, and You Stood Up is a great track. Unfortunately, the V trolls that seem to have taken over this board are slowly making me unable to listen to them........

It's fair to say that (so far at least) the music is the weakest link in the whole V product package, but that never stopped countless other turgid also-rans from making it big-ish in the UK.

The whole concept of V just seems dated. Without the blanket Saturday morning coverage I really don't think they'd be half as successful. Any boy bands of note now either pretend to play guitars, actually play guitars (Franz, Strokes) or are RnB focused/influenced. The idea of five dancer lads miming to cheesy pop has it's run it's course and jars with current pop trends. Admittedly, I've always hated bands like that, but I'm still right, bitch.

I like V, they're poppy and fun and just look like they're having such a good time whenever i see them. Good on them. The fact that they are all homo-erotic makes it all the more exciting.
The thing that annoys me is people constantly whining about the fact there are too many boybands at the moment - with the exception of past-their-sell-by-date Blue, surely V are the only classic cheesy, dancing boyband around at the present time? and you've got to have at least one.

whats wrong with V? I think there is a place for them in music as there are practically no boybands. Atleast good ones. Although everyone says its manafactured and predictable. Its actually making music more diverse as its one of the only kind around. All music is r n b and hip hop copies. So i welcome v.

I dont see what the problem with v is. Not all V fans are trolls, so dont generalise. They might be 'cheesy' but hey, we all need dairy products in our live. The difference with them is that they actually admit to being a boy band, and say that they are only pop. Unlike blue who think that they are gods greateat gift to music. If we complain about boybands, surely we should be complaining about the opposite of boybands... 'girl bands' there are so many of them and they all seem fit into one mould. V might be a boy band, but they bring something fresh and vibrant to our music scene.

Blood Sweat and Tears was a bit poky, but You Stood Up... dear god, I've not felt this way about a boy band ballad for years. It is the stickiest gooey sweet imaginable.
Possibly the fact that I haven't seen any of their videos which I imagine feature annoying boyband posturing helps.

I'm a big fan of what we might now consider traditional (i.e. singing and dancing, rather than instrument playing) boybands, and I think it's fair to say that many great pop moments from the past 20 odd years have stemmed from their musical loins, be they Take That, BSB's, N*SYNC or 5ive.
V were developed specifically to replace the perceived gap in the market after 5ive dissolved, so a comparison is unavoidable.
I think that the band themselves are pretty good, by past British Boyband standards - although they're definitely cheezier than 5ive were at the same stage of their careers, which is probably a mistake.
No, the only issue I have is with the songs that V have been been grafted onto. "Blood Sweat & Tears" was really pretty poor, pretty old-fashioned, and pretty hackneyed - like a 911 b-side. "Hip to Hip" is barely any better, and the fact that a cover version is already being used to boost sales doesn't bode well for the future.
I think that V are a good marketing concept, but unless they can be given some good material they'll fizzle out like so many before them.

Oh thank God, I thought I was the only person who despised V. I'll admit for the first few listens of Blood, Sweat & Tears I thought it wasn't bad, then I realised it was just PJ's enthusiasm for the song that was making me listen to it, and I didn't like it at all.
Good on them though for choosing the one image that appeals to everyone - girls who can't tell if men are gay, and gays who will ignore how bad a song is just as long as there are some open shirts and hairgel in a video.

You might not like them or their songs, but I do. Being gay has nothing to do with it, as is clearly proven when it comes to Will young. The V members are seriously hot, and it gives us a change from the squeeling of blue.

Belated, but hey: Dr Bastard, you really can swear. Wank wank wank. See? No @ for me!
Also: Blood, Sweat & Tears was an interesting attempt to move the boyband song on a step. The country and western guitar twang at the beginning and the general acoustic edge to the verses was not something you'd usually see in a boyband's first release. This sort of made me love them even more, because it's plainly obvious that when you're so clearly marketed towards tiny children who watch TOTP Saturday and Ministry of Mayhem, a "grower" is a dangerous thing.
Hip to Hip is a lot catchier, and therefore a lot more obviously likeable for their target audience - but at the same time it's in the process of creating a sort of V "sound", which a lot of boybands fail to do. They release by tempo - catchy, inferior-but-catchy, ballad, catchy-ish-but-trading-on-a-now-existing-audience. V have proved that, by releasing a better single as their second, they have more to offer.
Plus, if Hip to Hip had been released this week (note the death of singles and the likelihood of Busted staying at number one), it probably would have charted higher than it will next week (when it has Kasabian, Jay-Z and The Libertines to contend with).

Wow... mr marzipan you know alot about the music industry. However, I dont think that releasing their song next week will change much because its target demographic is younger teenagers (girls of age 16 and under..... me excuded), and they dont generally like artists who stray from boyband image. If the single is going to be successful, it will be successful in its own right. We will however see whether or not we are right as the week progresses.

I believe Mr. M's point was not that potential V buyers will be snapping up the Libertines single instead, (interesting notion though....) but rather that V will chart lower because of other, hotter new singles selling more copies. Hip To Hip should scrape the top 7, possibly even top 6.

I'd like to take this time to state that I don't know exactly what the big thing is about V. To me, they're just like every other awful boyband there's ever been, even if Aaron is ace. The fact that I see V just making the bottom half of the Top 10 this week, whilst a midget and a drug addict get two new entries above them at the top end of the chart, shows that the general public believe what I believe, that non-instrument playing boybands are dead. It's only a matter of time for Blue and Westlife.

I don't really get the obsession with V.
They are harmless enough I suppose but they do nothing but highlight the fact that we desperately need a new Take That.
Blood, Sweat And Tears was just rubbish in a mediocre sort of way. Hip To Hip is OK and as for Can U Feel It....Nobody ever has and nobody ever will do a half decent cover of anything by the Jacksons (except for Queen Mariah).
I wouldn't exactly say they are "so sh^5e" but I wouldn't go out of my way to say they were even a little bit good...because they are not.

I love the way everyone has stolen my swearing without swearing tactics! Have I accidentally created another new trend..."V. So Sh^5e" is a fab insult!
They're off on a mission towards The Dumper judging by the midweeks.

They're off on a mission towards The Dumper judging by the midweeks. Yes, because the top 5 is a complete fucking disaster, isn't it. And not at all higher than their last hit, suggesting that they could buck the trend of diminishing returns that affects a lot of hyped-up bands. (Even Westlife - each single has progressively sold less than the last.)

I like V. I think their songs are quite catchy and Aaron is ace.
But the whole point of this board is for the people who don't like the groups/artists to slag them off. Not for the people who love them to brag about how good they are.
That was aimed at the person who said 'Can you just lay off them' or whatever the hell it was.
