I disagree about the words. Just because they're not your cliche pop song lyrics, doesn't make them pretentious. Natasha's problem is that she has a revolting voice.

What's with all the Bedingfield hate? I guess it's a case of you either love her or you hate her.
These Words isn't excellent, but I'm bias because I think she's genius anyway. Some of the lyrics on her album are fucking incredible, thus the songs are awesome.
For those who find her extremely irritant, she's a dead certainty for number one later today, so I hope that pisses you off even more so because she's ace.
And I agree with whoever said it, she's the best dressed popstar in the country at the moment. Check out the accessories, you go girl! (i spent roughly £10 on Natasha style wristwear in H&M yesterday, including the infamous lined arm bandage).

the " i tried to focus my attention but i feel so add" line is very clever... basicly she tried to focus so she could write, but she couldnt because she felt add, ie. couldnt hold her attention on anything longer than a spoon could. Add makes people hyperactive and unable to sit and concentrate on one thing for more than like 10 secs explain it all you want- its still pretentious crap that thinkss it's clever. Its about as clever as Lee from Blue. I'll say one thing for Natasha, she sucks and blows at the same time which is quite a skill.

Another one claiming to be bias? At least one of you's lying. Own up! I don't love her or hate her, in all honesty. The album is proving something of a grower, though some of it will always be rubbish (Size Matters for one).

I don't like either of the Bedingfields. For some reason, they really piss me off. Can't believe 'These Words' is number 1, it's atrocious. Then again, so is Babycakes.

Add makes people hyperactive and unable to sit and concentrate on one thing for more than like 10 secs It's actually ADHD, not ADD, which further goes to prove how ignorant she is. I quite liked the song to begin with, but her pronunciation of 'hyperbole' drives me mad and I just want to slap her every time I hear it. And Daniel's a twat too.

(i spent roughly £10 on Natasha style wristwear in H&M yesterday, including the infamous lined arm bandage). Go Nye! No seriously, go Nye. Go far, far away. No it doesn't, ADD is a different thing to ADHD so you're wrong there. They are two very similar but different disorders. ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder and AD HD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Thus, those with ADD can't pay attention for very long and those with ADHD have got a short attention span and are hyper too.

I'm not being pedantic. You said Natasha was ignorant because ADD doesn't exist and I said it does therefore she's not ignorant in that respect. Thank you.
In other news, 'These Words' has grown on me a lot. Even Daniel Beddo has grown on me, although he's still a prat. I think there's enough room in the charts for both of them as they both make different and good music, but if the other Beddos hitch a ride on the bandwagon it might taint Natasha's and Daniel's sort-of credible image somewhat. Unless of course the other Beddo sister makes really good music too, in which case I hate the lot of them, the talented fools.

...her pronunciation of 'hyperbole' drives me mad and I just want to slap her every time I hear it. The oddest aspect is that no-one at her record company/publisher/management took a moment to pull her aside and tell her what a knob she was about to make of herself by idiotically mispronouncing a word that she only employed in the first place to serve as a rhyme with "Soul". The Best/Worst and most contrived lyric since Des'Ree warbled on about Ghost/Toast and the like. Good choon though.

I quite like her: but I don't think her voice is suited to this kind of pop. She seems a bit flash-in-the-pan-y for the Pop Universe (TM). I don't know, maybe she'll become a female Jimi Hendrix at the end of his career?

I suspect she's quite talented, although every time I hear the nauseating spoken declaration of "These words are my own" that precede the singing I have an urge to put my radio out of action forever.
As for Daniel - James Dean was genius, everything else was shit.

Natasha is genious, and These Words is easily the best #1 of 2004. Plus, it has great lyrics.

Personally I think the lyrics to These Words aren't so much 'pretentious', more 'twee'. Painfully so. If any of the bands on the Camden board had come out with something as toe-curling as "I know I had some studio time booked / But I couldn't find a killer hook", they'd be treated with the hoots of derision they so richly deserved. And as for the ridiculous voice she uses for the line "But it's not coming easily"... Pure Smack the Pony. With the emphasis on 'pony'.
And anyway, you're all wrong about ADD/ADHD. I've just looked up the symptoms on a website.
Well, I say 'looked up', I went to the NHS website, but then this car went past outside so I went to watch that instead.
Where was I?

and fortunately break his neck Hopefully it won't be long before she snaps her neck too Oh my life - how old are you? its one thing to moan about someones musical abilities, but calling the an event where a guy nearly lost his life, and caused his friends and family months of anguish is hardly 'fortunate'. No wonder people like Robbie Williams are so screwed up with folks so willing to knock everyone down.

Clever lyrics? Right, lets see: "Read some Byron, Shelly and Keats Resided in over a Hip-Hop beat Um..... Are you sure it's is not 'recited it over a hip-hop beat' - surely that makes a hell of a lot more sense. You know - like rap? never mind. Natasha Bedingfield is good, not my favourite person but I'll give her due credit because she is brilliant singing live - very strong voice. And I do like the songs. I think quite a fair few of Daniel's songs are good as well, and he seems to be a very nice person in interviews

I'm by no means a fan and the hyperbole thing is unforgivable by everyone involved, but I think she knows a little about ADD/ADHD as Daniel suffers from it! (And he substitutes ADD/ADHD freely, it would seem...) Check out his new album - the track "Sorry" includes the lyrics "ADD is my excuse and with my excuse I shot you down"
