It's happened loads of times before - S Club 7, Girls Aloud, Rachel Stevens... and now The Zutons. I get "Who Killed The Zutons" for my birthday, brilliant album, and now I find out their next single isn't even on the album, and they're re-releasing the album to put it on!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I hate re-release albums. It's so annoying when you buy a CD, and six months later the band release the same CD with five extra tracks, and you've already bought the original, and you're too broke to buy it again. STUPID.
I have the re-release of SOTU, the importers sent me that version instead of the original. I did get the videos too, which are ace.
Luckily, my favourite groups don't do the re-release often, but when they do it really pisses me off!

Criminy!

It really pisses me off too. It didn't bother me so much with Girls Aloud as the album before the re-release was fantastic, but Rachel Stevens doing it did piss me off. The album wasn't that good to start with, then she releases it with Some Girls (and a nicer cover!). I think it's exploiting the fans, as i'm sure will go out and buy the re-release. I, on the other hand, download the 'new' tracks.

I didn't mind buying SOTU twice, being a fan and all so it was worth it but i wasn't pleased when Rachel Stevens re-released 'Funky Dory' with SG on it. Means i have to re-buy it.
And when i heard Sir Justin was re-releasing 'Justified' with 'Lovin' It' on, i wasn't that bothered because it means a new-ish album...still waiting on that being released.
SEB doing it did pee me off because Groovejet wasn't on the original album...didn't bother purchasing the new album.

I hate it too, it's like punishment for being a fan or something!
It's happened three times with me so far - Shakira, Girls Aloud and Britney. Luckily I only owned Britney and Girls Aloud copied, so I didn't mind buying the re-release.

My three favourite artists have ALL pulled this stunt on me. Jamelia, Anastacia and Sophie Ellis Bextor. I always buy the original too. I just download the extra tracks.

its especially shite when pop groups from abroad have six diffrent versions of albums to suit each country its relesed in i.e my favorite group ever Alcazar have relesed 6 versions of casino and so far 4 of Alcazarized and since im a loyal fan ive got them all! i will say tho its left me a bit short in the pocket, I think one single version of an album should be put out everywhere and if theres a new single that is destined to be massive, they should leave it for the next.

Well apparently Busted's "big farewell" to their fans is that they're going to re-release "A Present For Everyone" with a few extra tracks on it.
I'd hoped for something better than that really.

If that's true, then it is rather a piss-poor 'Farewell to Everyone'. But given that they weren't around long enough for a genuine 'Greatest Hits', it's sadly inevitable that the record company will find an alternative way to bleed cash from Busted fans desperate for one last memento of the group.

Are they going to be all naughty and take "Why" off as well? The most annoying person for me who re-released their album was Darren Hayes, with Spin. He added a whole other disk to it, with new tracks, and everything. Not impressed!

It does irritate me when companies re-release an album when theres nothing that special added. I dont mind however if its a classic album rereleased for an anniversary for example some of Bowie's old albums being remastered etc.
What has pissed me off with Mr Bowie is that is recentl album 'Realuty' is about to be rereleased for the THIRD time on the space of about 2 years.
Theres the regular edition and the limited 2disc edition that came out on its first release.
Then we had the reality tour edition and now they're gonna release another double disc edition.
Thats just bloody silly, i feel ashamed for Bowie acting like this.
grrr grumble grumle big dogs cock!

Björk did it with Debut, they added Play Dead and tweaked the graphics - it was annoying at the time but I got over it.
Also Ms Gudmundsdottir has a habit of releasing special editions - basically just with different packaging. I have the special edition of Homogenic and the SACD of Medulla. The music is the same on both. Not so annoying, but the specials are only available in certain shops and you don't know if they're going to be different or not.

*NSYNC did it as well, that reeeeeeeeeally pissed me off, I bought the album when they had no credability! Do you know how embarrassed I was? It isn't fair! They put a whole new CD on and I don't have the money to buy it so therefore miss out on (among ohter things) the Girlfriend remix.
Boo hiss.

I bought Ellis-Bextor's original version of Read My Lips - it had Murder on the DaRncefloor on it but 6 months later it was re-issued with Get Over You and Music Gets The Best Of Me and some others. Even more annoyingly I bought Shoot From The Hip from CD WOW and it has 2 tracks missing! I feel I lacks 2 complete Ellis-Bextor albums!

Yeah the Funky dory thing was sooo annoying, and it wasn't even worth it in the end.
I'm sure there was something about this on "Short Change" years ago, and the record companies/shops or whatever ended up having to give the new version in exchange for the original. I think it was Destiny's Child or something. Maybe we could all write in to Watchdog...?
Oh by the way, which album did Britney re-issue?

Being fair to CD-WOW though, you probably got the album cheaper than what you'd have normally paid for it... so its not surprising when some albums miss tracks if they want to keep their prices low... but my version of "Shoo From The Hip" has 12 tracks, whereas CD-WOW's has 11 though...
