People hate her because they hate her. The same way they hate lots of other popstars I love and I can't understand why. Jentina is nothing unusual, she's certainly not the first and won't be the last. It happens with every single celebrity going. This board epitomises this, the dislike of people we know next to nothing about. Personally I think she's great but to throw my rattle out of my pram and imply that people are bigots just because they don't like someone I do is despicable. Maybe that might be the reason for some and yes that is ignorent but to tar everyone with the same brush is equally as ignorent. And I don't believe it anyway as evidenced on this board, everyone has their own reasons. For example half of the people here went off her because (rightly or wrongly) they thought she moved away from the original tough gypsy girl image of BAS into more Kylie clone territory. And to be honest I don't find it hard to understand why some really took against her even before that when she first appeared on the scene with BAS. Like it has already been mentioned we know next to nothing about the personality of the girl herself and so all people have is the image presented and a young, fairly pretty, white English girl who's influenced by US hip-hop and going on about being a Bad Ass Strippa is an image that was asking to be despised even without the gypsy angle (infact if she was middle class I'm sure people would hate her more). I mean it's bad enough for young, pretty English popbabes to be liked when they're doing music young pretty English popbabes should be doing let alone trying to have the audacity to claim they're hip-hop!!! This isn't my opinion by the way but it was obvious this was gonna be the view of many. And it wasn't helped by the fact the whole intended tongue in cheek-ness of Jentina was poorly done and fell slightly flat and therefore passed people by. And if you're proclaiming that judging all gypsies to be criminals or bad people is wrong (which it is) then the 'Daily Mail readers' comment has no place. Isn't it just as wrong to assume that because you might have a certain political standpoint and read a certain paper you are therefore racist? I think it is. I think you've completely misunderstood my point. When Jentina first came out, she was heavily marketed as some kind of new person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me female rapper. The fact that she was born in a caravan, and was a bit 'nasty' was a huge part of her marketing - and I think this is what people haven't took too. I don't necessarily think it's prejudice as such, but it's just in the same way as people like Blazin Squad and Tommi didn't sell hugely - people just don't seem to connect with them. Even in this post, there's a lot of people saying they don't like her, but not even mentioning her music. Therefore, it has to be the image that's putting them off, right? And as for the whole gypsy thing, did you miss the five page 'Jentina is a gypsy therefore really evil' thread that Tim and I were commenting about?

I think you've completely misunderstood my point. Therefore, it has to be the image that's putting them off, right? It isn't her image which puts me off. There was nothing wrong with the Bad Ass Strippa image pre se. It was her that put me off. The beats to Bad Ass nothing to do with Jentina) are really good but then she opens her mouth and ruins it with 'yo all gettin jiggy to ma rhythm' and other such crap. She sings in a cod American accent whilst genuine urban talent (who actually make a point of being British thank God) are being sidelined by that cow. Worse, she changes her whole image and sound and is still considered 'this amazing urban talent' when we know she is NOT. I have to apologise though Storm, it isn't your fault you like that crap and you are right about a few things, let me explain... Everytime I start a 'Jentina Is Fake Shit' post, somehow it is always dragged into a battle over gypsies or whatever. I know some and they are nice. It irritiates me that people use racism as an excuse to explain why Jentina is so crap and fake sounding. I honestly believe she knows nothing about rapping. Yesterday I found a message board (while someone promoted a Jentina Is Wack Group) and they were all slagging her rapping off and calling her a 'pikey dike'. So some do hate her for being a gypsy. I just hate her for being crap.

Oh, no wait! I forgot Jentina snogged Matt Busted! I heart her now! See, ignorance works both ways. That's the problem with the internet. Sarcasm doesn't always come off too well.

I've just heard the news. Virgin's PR Blurb was right, French Kisses will take Jentina 'to the next leve.'
The Dumper.
I can't believe her record label have (reportedly) spent three million quid making, producing and pushing Jentina and her album around. I'd be very surprised if her album even got released now.

Well Jentina will be going back to her traveller site in a muddy field after two flop singles....
How can someone who doesnt have a proper home and so untalented get a recording contract?

What's snogging Matt Busted got to do with anything?? As far as I was aware, this is a music board, and most people like an artist or not depending on whether they like their songs......... Storm, chill. I can't speak for Miss M on this, but as far as I read it was a harmless, tongue in cheek post and nothing to be getting hostile about.

How can someone who doesnt have a proper home and so untalented get a recording contract? 1- She was a traveller- she isn't anymore. 2- Why should her being a traveller or "not having a proper home" affect her getting a record contract anyway?

Because I want to see her fail horribly. This single could very well be the nail in the coffin I've been dying to see.
Nothing more than that.

But no matter what else happens in her life she'll still have been more successful, more attractive, and generally better than you. So you can't win.

Frankie Howerd was a very talented man. Plus he was in Carry On films, which I love. Jentina isn't talented in any way and she was never in a Carry On film, ergo, she's crap.
That twisted logic was all down to you Cherubic.

Ack! Mysterious is TERRIBLE. She puts on a vintage Neneh Cherry accent and sounds like a total knob ("Malibu tah Jamaica, yo!"- she can't be serious!?). Her lyrics have always been terrible but at least on Bad Ass Strippa they were tongue in cheek. It truly makes the mediocre French Kisses sound like a masterpiece. What a waste of a good backing track.
...I really like Sneakers despite myself, though. Her vocal style reminds me of Betty Boo on that one, so who knows, you may like it, Dr B (would the world implode??) !

I quite like Mysterious, simply because it sounds like Neneh Cherry, and I'm such a Neneh fan. Especially the 'Malibu beach to Jamaica' line.
'Sneakers' is better though.

I adore Neneh too, the Raw Like Sushi period though. There has never been anyone quite like her has there? I don't see why Jentina is compared to her here, I would punt Jentina up the posterior and propel her onto the hasbeen pavement of life. She's so bad. I'm off to listen to Buffalo Stance.

Neneh Cherry is amazing. I mean, just her duetting actually made an Eagle-Eye Cherry record bearable. I really liked 'Woman' as well as the Raw Like Sushi stuff. Jentina's a bit bum, but I haven't heard mysterious or sneakers, so shan't pass too much judgement. Bad Ass Strippa was sooo bad though - if you want a good track with that sample, find Charli Baltimore's 'Money'.

I love that song! Oh you have fab taste Molly. The Jentina song was an example of the song being better than the actual artist given it. Most of the reviews I read said as much: the beats are great but Jentina is very ordinary and dull.
French Kisses was the flabbier, older, uglier cousin of the amazing Toxic and it shows. Such crap and it was promoted as 'a classic to take this young rapper to the next level.' That annoyed me because I can see Jentina for what she is and I know she won't last in the pop industry. People just took an instant dislike to her but that's a whole other thread.

Hurrah for the Neneh love, that woman is a God. Wasn't she supposed to be making a comeback this year? All of her albums are brilliant- my favourite being Hombrew, though Man was good and very underrated, too. "Buffalo Stance" is epic.

'Homebrew' is the Neneh album for me too, if only for the sublime 'Move With Me' - her best work by far.
She needs to come back.
As for Charli Baltimore - I bought that track. it's still rubbish though.
I'm liking 'Mysterious' more with every play........

I haven't heard it yet but what I was told was that Jentina's album (curse that fraud) is out in March but they're revamping the tracks to make it more commercial and...Kylie like.
Only rumour though.

I've still not heard it but French Kisses was great and if she can't get that to chart then it doesn't matter if she releases a CD of herself pissing up a rope.
I quite like Jentina and I think it would be interesting if she stayed around. However, I just don't think the unsuspecting world was build to cope with such a act.
