No sex appeal, a crap quiff, horrible clothes - suits with Converse trainers. I HATE Converse sneakers and please take time to note my Americanism there.
No, seriously, what is he for? Tyler James is another one of those boring jazz lite twats with an indie hair style (or a really retarded looking quiff) who thinks he's sexy when he probably hasn't shaved in his life.
Am I alone in wondering why he has a contract?

Is he the one that lived with amy winehouse.. And she said they had sex and he denied it! I loved that, poor amy.. She once told me she liked my jumper.

who thinks he's sexy when he probably hasn't shaved in his life. How is sexiness related to shaving? If he hasn't shaved in his life he would have a long beard. Like a town cryer. He doesn't have a long beard like a town cryer.

I've heard Gareth Gates' version of Foolish, and so I now worship Tyler. Then again, there's really no use in him when we've got Will Young. He could replace Robbie in some senses, but he's just not butch enough.
I'm indifferent to him. The hair has to change though. I quite like Converses. They're cute.

Converse 'sneakers' rock.
Dr.Bastard, on this point, you are wrong.
As for Tyler, and his musical outpit, it's all a bit 'meh' to me. I prefer Jamie Scott to be honest.........

He's got dead eyes like a cod fish. I also think that while there's no law against murdering your own song as he does with Foolish there should be. It's a great song as Gareth's version proves. (Sorry SophiefromBloke I totally disagree with you on this one). Tyler sang it live on Dermot O'leary's show a couple of weeks ago and he was crap. Hardly a note of the tune was recognizable.

He sounds like a cross between Will Young and Jamie Cullum - and since we already have enough of those trying to make their way out of the woodwork, do we really need an ugly runt with dreadful hair to join them? Having said that, the song is not so bad.

The song is brilliant. Gareth sings it great on the album and live on his tour. I saw Tyler supporting Natasha and he was not good live. I also dont like his eyes, they look cold. Not very likable. And yes he is along the lines of Will and Jamie, but not half as good.

He's got dead eyes like a cod fish. My sister said something similar. She said his eyes were like 'eggshells' and his face was a like a 'baby bum'. Although I can't agree or disagree. Unless the baby shits a lot. I should have retitled this thread to 'Quiffs In Pop'.

As Tyler is one of my hot tips for 2005, I feel duty bound to defend him. I think he has quite nice eyes, and I would liken his voice more as a cross between Jamie Cullum and Justin Timberlake. Ultimately, his success or failure will be based on what people think of his music, and on that count, I feel he can't be faulted.

He's got a lot going for him, but he also seems to think the world should be in awe of his great singing and song-writing ability and that he deserves to be a big star, which is never a good vibe to be giving off before you've had a proper hit.
Sadly for him, it looks like the British public prefer the man from the Halifax advert this week.

Converse rock!
I like Tyler, but I wouldn't exactly class him as "jazz" - he did the Smash Hits Poll Winners for goodness sake.

This is again where you are wrong Dr B. Tyler is incredibly sexy, he practically oozes it. He makes fresh and fun pop music and is a great writer. His chart positions have been dissapointing, but it certainly doesn't mean the end. I hope not- he has a hell of a lot of potential.

Hmm. I am in 2 minds about this chappie. Not great looking, odd hair and dances strange, but I can forgive him those sins.
He writes a cracking tune though. I really liked 'Why Do I Do?' and if I hadn't heard and loved Gareth's infinitely better sung version of Foolish - even better live than recorded - I am sure I would have liked his version of Foolish a lot too (though as I have heard and loved Gareth's version, Tyler's version grates on me, as I don't think he does the song justice).
However......I have heard him interviewed a couple of times. Oh dearie me. He has far too much of the Winehouse 'I will just slag everyone else off' attitude for my liking. It makes him come across as an arrogant wee shite, and I don't think he has (yet) done enough to warrant that sort of attitude.
Nevertheless I hope we hear more of him - or at least get to hear more of his songs with others performing them if they can do it better. He is definitely a talented song writer.

While I give credit to any man who imitates (albeit with dubious success) the hairdo of Calvin Goldspink, Tyler does come across as a poor sod's Will Young.
On a recent TOTP Saturday Tyler confessed that he would like to ask out Strap-On Bedingfield. Hmm, doesn't one have to be a blood-relative for that?

Saw TJ perform on Des and Mel and he was dreadful, his dancing was anything but and his vocals were dire. I too have heard Gareth's version and thought the two were incomparible. TJ wrote a great song in Foolish, probably has more great songs in the making for the future, perhaps he would be best allowing other more talented vocalists to do his tunes more justice than he can do himself.
I don't think he sounds like Will Young or Jamie Cullem although I do think those two sound very alike - Will watch the schedules for further info on TJ - but for now I am not impressed in the slightest

Did you see him on Top Of The Pops?
The audience couldn't believe how crap he was or his spastana dancing either.

I'd like to see the full and verified results of this poll you took amongst the TOTP audience. Because on my TV they all looked like they do for every other performance and they all clapped at the end just like they do for everyone else. 'Spastana' isn't a word.

being a fan of tyler james maybe im biased but i don't understand how you can say that the person who wrote the song doesn't do it justice compared to someone else.
having read what everyone been saying its generally negativity - and as for saying tyler reminds u of so and so - i cant see any comparisons with any other artists because in my opinion hes individual and more talented than the majority of the crap thats released these days
