i don't understand how you can say that the person who wrote the song doesn't do it justice compared to someone else.
It's very possible. Another example for you, Dolly Parton wrote 'I Will Always Love You' and recorded it, Whitney Houston came along covered it and did a far superior version, which Parton admits is better than her version. Also, many pop acts don't write their own songs, so with your theory, the writer would do a better job of the song than the actual artist that records it? Anway, back on topic, he doesn't annoy me. I'm not a fan but he doesn't annoy me like some artists do. Another thought, he won that award at Smash Hits Pollwinners Party. I'm pretty sure that award carries a curse (3SL, Boom (I think that's what they were called, there were quite a few of them)) so we shouldn't have to hear much from him.

I quite like Mr. James, even if he did sound like a sheep on TOTP. Then again, if he can't take control of his legs, how the hell is he supposed to manage his voice?

The Linda Ronstadt version is superior but not Ms Melisma's. I imagine the divine Dolly only said that because Whitney made her millions of dollars.

Neither Gareth nor Whitney do better versions of songs than the artists who originally wrote or performed them. Dolly's version of "I Will Always Love You" has emotional power, Whitney's is a lame power ballad with screechy diva vocals.I can't articulate my thoughts well enough! And Gareth is in no way better than Mr. James.I can't articulate my thoughts well enough!

How can you say that about Whitney her version is fantastic and with so much emotion and the only reason i bought the video of the Bodyguard ( although Kevin Kostner was a big draw too .drool ) i saw her singing this live on Parkinson, i think, although its so long ago i may be wrong and she was sensational with not a note out of place. The same goes for Gareth i saw him singing Foolish live and thought there is no way boy you will reach those high notes in tune, but he did, and i was impressed. So i think that covers can be better than originals and for the writers to admitt that they are better( as in Dolly Parton) does not make them inferior just good judges of great talent. It is always good to be gracious in life, Tyler James could learn a lot from Ms Parton IMO

I think Tyler should just stick to the writing which he is very good at.

He's got dead eyes like a cod fish. I also think that while there's no law against murdering your own song as he does with Foolish there should be. It's a great song as Gareth's version proves. (Sorry SophiefromBloke I totally disagree with you on this one). Tyler sang it live on Dermot O'leary's show a couple of weeks ago and he was crap. Hardly a note of the tune was recognizable. His eyes are frightening. They're something not quite alive about them, but not quite dead. Mayhaps he's a vampire. And his hair is unacceptable. I should have known he wasn't going to be hot.

I went to his industry showcase and I thought he had an amazing voice, I was stunned! He wasn't the brightest button in the box when being interviewed, but seemed like a nice guy. I also loved 'Why Do I Do' and like 'Foolish' too, but not sure if it's what kids want to hear at the moment and don't think older folks would buy his music cos they'll probably think he's a too poppy...so not sure where he fits in really, bless him.
But I definitely agree about his eyes....very strange indeed!!

I love Foolish, so catchy but he does move about a lot, and his eyes are a little creepy. I love Amy, he should just be honest.

I have listened to both Tyler's and Gareth's versions of Foolish, and while Tyler must be given the credit for writing the song no way does his version compare to gareth's which is far superior in my opinion. For those that haven't heard Gareth sing Foolish please give it a try and listen to him hit the high note at the end.!!!!! Awesome.

Tyler is a brilliant writer, he also co-wrote the song 'Absolutely' on Gareth album which is another big favourate of mine.

I'm glad his version sank like a stone. He's so up himself and Gareth's version was far superior. All credit to him for writing the thing nevertheless.

Everyone should be afraid of him. There is something not quite right about him, and I don't think its just his dodgy hair (not quite Nick Kamen is he?) and bizarre leg movements (can't call it dancing, you just can't) its something just under the surface, bubbling..... hmmm demon child?
Or is it just because the lad next door (who is fourteen, so in theory old enough to know better) has played it constantly for the last fortnight. And the walls are thin, oh like paper. Perhaps he is the demon child.
