The stubborn refusal of all these Popera groups such as G4, Il Divo and Tricolore to expire is dementing me. Why are these boring musical forms becoming so popular all of a sudden when they're all a load of Kinnock.

Can we all Charlotte Church and Katherine Jenkins to that?
I'm sure they can both afford a few sessions with Carrie and David so when they sing proper pop they can sing properly without going over the top and grating.

Hate G4 but like Il Divo!!! I'm the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I know that what G4 is doing is wrong at a fundamental level, but they are funny and I don't think they can be called boring. I'm sure what makes them so funny and interesting will be swiftly removed from them by the time they reach the second album, but for now I'll enjoy the over-the-top singing, mental vocal arrangements and painfully literal hand movements.

It's all wank.
What gets me most is people raving about how it's introducing classical music to a new audience. It's fucking not! It's got nothing to do with it! So G4/Il Divo/et al have nice, well trained voices. BIG FUCKING DEAL! So do tens of thousands of people.

Their CDs fill that present niche - the great aunt or other hard to buy for relative, the kids' teacher etc. makes a change from toiletries, flowers, vouchers, chocolates. the same could be said for lots of high selling albums in the Christmas period - the ones with general gran and gramps appeal - MOR pap.

Is there not specualtion that one of G4 are gay? I think they all look gay, so it's like "who cares?". But when interviewed by Attitude I was less than impressed by their rather weird answer. The article described one of them as "easily the most fuckable" and I am just thinking "who on earth is the most fuckable?". They are all so ravaged-looking, fat, or just plain simple-looking.
There is more just beyond these groups, is there not? At work one of my colleagues had 2 CD's that were solo artists, of this genre. To think I got a row for putting on the Vengaboys. Bitches.

If you read Popbitch or Holy Moly or both it would indicate the fair haired one is. But maybe there is more than one.

I quite like G4. I just actually find them quite interesting, just in that it's well known songs done in a completely different way. it's all completely ridculous, but I quite like this. Their 'Life On Mars' is especially good. And it was always obvious they'd sell shed-loads - in the same way that Jamie Cullum has, taking contemporary songs in putting them in a style that mums and grans can also relate to.
I don't know why people are so up in arms about it. There's only really two acts of this ilk, and Il Divo are hardly high profile. They sell a lot, but I think I've only ever seen them on the TV once.
I don't like Il Divo though. They look slimey.

You wouldn't believe how pissed off I was when I heard a reviewer call Rufus Wainwright popera.
Ugh, how can you compare him to bloody G4 you cunt?
Popera is a rather shit genre. I didn't really know about Il Divo, I then heard that Simon Cowell is their boss and decided to not even bother listening to them.

G4 fill the niche of "Music That Is Generally Amusing To Listen To". At the thought of a new G4 song on X-Factor I clapped my hands together in a sort of evil glee. Still, that blond one is sort of strange looking isn't he? And my mother insists I'm in love with one of Il Divo. Not sure why, don't own their CD and I think I've seen a picture of them perhaps twice. But she's odd to begin with.
