I can't be the only one who's secretly (or not so secretly now) delighted that Coldplay will not be given the No.1 slot because of the fucking crazy frog.
So who else, apart from the hated shareholders, is mad with the frog?

Normal circumstances I would be pleased something had beaten Coldplay, however in this case I am not. It would have been so much better if The Aloud or McFly, or some other pop act was keeping them off the top instead. Now that would be pop justice. But, the crazy frog song is the worst thing ever, and I would choose Coldplay over it.

I think in this instance Coldplay are the lesser of two evils...

What I find utterly tedious is the assumption that Coldplay have a God given right to a number one. Okay so one of the singles is an annoying thing that talks crap and goes on and the other is a ringtone but we as British citizens have always had a weakness for novelty trash. Actually I despise Coldplay, who are for wet students that really need to stop drinking so much Horlicks. I hate Gwenyth Paltrow as well.
(Then again I pretty much hate everything don't I?)
And if the Crazy Frog takes over the charts and stops Geri getting a number one then I will take great satisfaction in her inevitable pop implosion.

I do like Coldplay, but i often wonder if its just because everyone else does. They do have a smugness about them, like the Darkness whose videos are better enjoyed in their band name.
Anyway, if Crazy Frog is a symbol of our times, then i'ld rather wait till 2010 - when frogs will rule the world.

Somebody left the darkness did they not?
This new Coldplay song is probably one of the less bland song they have done so it would have been more deserving of a high place than their previous attempts. It's still not that great a song so isn't really worthy of a number one.
Now the crazy frog I hate with a passion, and bearing in mind that I really don't give a money's about chart positions (if you like a song and buy it, then who cares?...), it really makes me cringe that so many people have bought it - but hey, what can you do? If it gets snapped up quickly it'll be up there for a week and then it will fuck off into the nether-regions of the dumper...
...Though saying that it did knock Oasis off the top spot, so who am I to criticise or complain?
Yes...er...back to coldplay...

It makes me cringe too, that in-between buying burbery caps and getting their hoodies confiscated that they are buying such an awful single Its on TV twice every ad break, just listen on there!

Oh god I detest Coldplay. All this whingeing about how music is dead and other bullshit because they don't sell that many singles when X&Y will sell trillions of copies is so annoying. That new video with that twat Martin flopping around the place in a stupor is so cringe worthy.

I totally agree, Scruffy! Thank you for explaining it so succinctly.

I totally used to like Coldplay with their "Rush of Blood To THe Head" album. But their Speed Of Sound song, when I first heard it I was listening to the radio and I heard the intro and I was like "ooh they are playing Clocks!" then realize, No they aren't. It's too similar for comfort. I won't be buying X&Y unless their other singles prove it worthy. Coldplay has betraded me! I will cut you.

Martin's nasal voice is starting to grate on me.
However, he does write some beautiful songs so maybe he should give up singing and just write music for others then he could have more time to play with apple and maybe produce a pear or a satsuma

Chris looked very much like he was having a fit on TOTP this week. Either that, or it was his Crazy Frog impression.

He was on Jonathon Ross a few weeks back and incorporated the crazy frog into his song. It was funny the first song but overdone on the 2nd and 3rd. Sadly, it was wasted on the audience who did not raise a titter
