As pointless as Tina S Club or Lee Steps - the dub mix.
May I give you Morales Dub of Who Do You Think You Are as an example?
It's basically an instrumental of his club mix - you'd be hard pushed to know it was the original song if asked.
Wonder if he got paid as much for the dub as the club mix.

I can't see the point either. They don't exactly promote the song if they do come on in a club because nobody knows what it's supposed to be.
I don't know why labels of pop artists fork out the big ones for dub remixes, I don't think their wanted at all. No wonder the solo Spices lost their deals so quickly, Virgin needed to recuperate the money spent on Morales dub's! Or not.

I remember listening to a dub remix of some Spice Girls song with my dad in the car. He said "She can't be singing that for real, it's too fast" and I got upset. Until then I thought the radio was 100% live. It was Emma.

Christina Milian had some truely awful Dub Remixes for Dip It Low.
