Well at last, finally some proof that the Dynamite really just isn't as popular as all the music journos and hip and trendy tv types would have us all believe. Apparently the "much lauded" album won't even go Top40 over the weekend and this, coupled with "Judgement Day" going in at 25 has surely got to convince people that this girl is just another victim of Mercury Music prize overhyping.
I cannot stand the new single - "how you gonna wash the blood from your hands" - why me? What have I done? She really does seem to think she's some sort of modern saint/spokesperson for a generation, always popping up at rallies and giving speeches about how evil everyone is, how the youth can make a "difference" and generally wanting to be the new Nelson Mandela. I just don't get where this came from!!!! What real success has she really had, none of the singles have done that well right?
I just wish she'd start to take herself less seriously and stop trying to moralise at us all the time!!!! And also, for all the journos to stop pretending that she was ever as popular as they always want us to believe!

Is it just me or does she look like she doesn't take personal hygiene too seriously?
I bet in private she's about as street as Sophie Ellis Bextor.

I just find her music boring, I think Estelle is far better.

I hate her new album cover. Taking a b/w photo of Ms D and colouring in her earings a nasty pink isn't really "high concept". This attempt at being Nelson Mandela is completely inexplicable. Self-righteousness in pop is embarrassing as a rule, but especially if you don't actually have any conceivable clout to start off with.

Ah, so glad Im not the only one!
From today's Popbitch...
Nobody loves Ms Dynamite
Only a couple of years back Ms Dynamite was the darling of the music industry, picking up a Mercury Music prize and even lecturing the government on just about anything. How quickly things change. Her big comeback single barely grazed the top forty. And Radio 1 set up a special gig this week, for which you had to text them to be in the exclusive audience. The competition ran on Trevor Nelson's show last week. The number of people who entered? Er... three.

She was on ITV Lunchtime news the week her new single was out talking about how people need to treat single mothers better, blah blah.

From that link:
Hilarious. The schaudenfraude, it is sweet. Her first album was really average, too, never got the hype.

If only her music was as interesting as this. Cheryl Tweedy really grew on me when she slapped that woman in the bogs. Bashing a copper is really serious though and she has got a young child. Stupid woman.

Her problem is that her music is all about "sending out a message", and by doing the very thing she claims to be so against, she has destroyed the credibility of her "message".
Without her high and mighty morals her music is exposed as the watery shite that it is.
I don't think we'll see another high profile release from her.

She's been given a fine of over a thousand pounds and community service.
She'll probably release a record about her experiences, and use the fact that she twatted a copper whilst pissed as yet another platform from which to lecture us all, in a kind of 'I have trodden there so you don't have to' fashion. How kind, considerate, and above all 'street' of her.

She will probably appear in the Daily Mail denouncing 24-hour drinking licensing laws.

She will probably appear in the Daily Mail denouncing 24-hour drinking licensing laws. alternatively, she'll join Take a Break magazine's 'Mums' Army' and stand against yobs and yoofs, because she's seen how easily it can happen...

I bet her community service will be some shitey free shows, or going into schools and talking about guns, drink, and dads.
