how his parents spawned him i've no idea, as his bros and sisters all fell off the ugly tree and in some cases were hit by every branch down. Face transplants all round?

He or should I say his family really are a tabloid dream come true and Max Clifford couldn't have invented a better background in his wildest fantasies.
Shayne (even the name) is a champion person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me . No wonder he got the most votes.

In the Reality-TV-Talent-Contest-Winning stakes, Shayne is the logical successor to Cheryl Tweedy.

The automatic insertion of 'person less brilliant etc' spoilt the alliteration on the 'ch' Why can't we use the word Ch@v when it's appropriate by the way?

Rub your belly and pat your head.. and then say the magic words. (Txt MAGICWORDS and then your name to 83188 for your code).
Then attempt to write the word in question.
Chav.
Wow it worked for me! And it only cost me £3 plus standard network charges!

I'm sick of him already & i think a lot of pop & music fans are.
You could say give him a chance however when he got responses from the judges on a fairly negative view & then shouts to the crowd "Well you loved me didnt you" really makes me worry, it's like "Wooah you aint even released a record yet mate, calm it".
He's been quoted today as saying he's going to be the next Robbie Williams.

His family were totally repulsive. I'm sure the majority of them yelled "Bangin' tune mate!" when they heard Shayne's single.

I was quite shocked to discover that one of those 'ugly stick' sisters is actually Shayne's TWIN! How is this possible!
If Shayne really wants 'a better life' he better disown his family quick.
As for that blonde bint girlfriend Faye McKeevey, she's lining herself up to be the next Coleen! I bet she's in Cricket right now begging for credit with the infamous 'Do You Know Who I Am?' routine.

Aimme Osbourne is gorgeous in comparison to how Sharon (should look without the surgery), Jack, Ozzy and Kelly. So he obviously got the good genes. However, i don't think he is that attractive, but it seems i am in the minority because of all the teenage girls buying his record because he is apparently 'gorgeous'. There isn't any mention that he is 'talented'. There are many singers like him, he couldn't even get into One True Voice.
I would like him if he sang a decent song, but the song is rubbish, therefore i don't like him.

I'm sure I remember something from biology at school about occasionally 2 parents with brown eyes having a blue eyed baby so perhaps the same is true with looks and Shayne is the equivalent of that blue eyed miracle baby. Two wrongs don't equal a right but clearly a million of them do!

Why can't we use the word Ch@v when it's appropriate by the way? When is it ever appropriate? It's a derogatory term for the working class. Although by the looks of this thread, a phrase isn't needed to be derogatory towards them....

I thought it was a slightly irreverent and tongue-in-cheek term for people who revel in their ignorance, are materialistic, superficial and aggressive to anyone who challenges their 'values'. Where is all this sanctimonious political correctness coming from?
As far as I'm aware it's got fuck all to do with the working classes, whoever they are supposed to be.

of all the teenage girls buying his record because he is apparently 'gorgeous'. There isn't any mention that he is 'talented'. What do you expect? If you're looking for someone who'll be buying That's My Goal because they think it's a great pop song by a distinctive new voice, prepare for a long and fruitless search. The X Factor isn't designed for (and certainly not by) people who love music. It's designed for people who watch Saturday night TV. It's already been responsible for the career of G4, an act tailored for people who don't like music if ever there was one. Why it even gets discussed so much on here is beyond me. As for the whole c hav thing - seriously, who gives a fuck? Mike Skinner is the epitome of c hav culture, and also happens to be one of the most incisive and innovative artists of his generation. Using this tag as a stick with which to beat someone is symptomatic of classist and outdated attitudes, and can make for pretty tedious reading (see above).

At first his reason was because he 'wanted to change people through his music' then it was because he 'wanted a better life for himself' then it was something about his mum (the one that can't do anything except look miserable and hold a knife)

I was maybe a bit harsh and if so sorry. I had no idea that the expression had any poitical connotations that's all. It certainly doesn't for me. Back to Shayne and his aspirationally challenged but undoubtedly otherwise extremely worthy family. What I was trying to say was that I think he's got a good chance which is enhanced by his family background and the potential for tabloid column inches rather than not. He may benefit from the rags to riches angle too and the fact that he can actually sing. No-one can hold the song against him. That would be daft. He wasn't going to throw the whole competition because he couldn't bring himself to sing the winning song.

That's completely fallacious, and as someone from a working class background with a comedy person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me brother and otherwise normal siblings, I should know.

[ That's completely fallacious, and as someone from a working class background with a comedy person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me brother and otherwise normal siblings, I should know. I don't think it is. I'm sure that it wasn't intended that way to start off with, but that is what the word has "progressed" to. First it was people in Burberry, or baseball caps etc. Now whenever I hear that word being used, whether it be by people or in the media its always directed in a negative fashion towards someone doing nothing worse then being working class. To go back to the original point of this thread- the boy's just won a million pound recording contract, he's had a rough deal- I think its only human nature for his first instincts to be to help his family out.

Yeah I can see what you mean; the word seems to have a different, broader connotation in the media (hence, say, Girls Aloud being called person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me s when they aren't). On topic, Shayne is rubbish, mocking his family is harsh.

I don't see anything wrong with mocking the working class; they are romanticised far too often. The proles were responsible for Thatcherism.

Is it just me or does the whole 'When he walked into the room I just knew he was a star" thing not ring true? He was in 'Popstars-the rivals' yet failed to make it through, if he had that supposed 'X factor' why did he not have it then? The whole thing is such a swizz, I wish him well and hope he does some decent pop but I guess he won't

And I thoroughly agree, my idea of a 'unmentionable as we will change the word to something else' is the vile Essex-type Thatcher voting smug gits who helped destroy the working class

Love Shayne - hate the fact that the single version of 'That's my goal' features every word ending in 'y' sounding like 'aay'
"You know my storrraaay....don't be in a huuuuurrrraaaaaay...Ii'm not here to say im sorraaaaaay"
Also the phrase "acted foolish" pisses me off even more than the above - you behaved in a foolish manner or acted foolishly. You can't have "acted foolish" it is not gramatically possible! The writers were obviously taught at the Simon Cowell and Pete Waterman 'you did brilliant' school of bad grammar.
...Other than that, I loved the VT clip of his family - it really was like shameless. I also enjoyed the moment when it was announced that Shayne was in the top 2 and his twin sister pulled his girlfriend forward so violently that she looked like she was about to topple over into the row in front - priceless.
