Fantastic band despite having a weird sequence where their odd albums are good and their even albums are crap; albums 1,3 and 5 (Beautfiul Freak, Daisies Of The Galaxy and Shootennany respectively were all great..) yet albums 2 and 4 (Electro-Shock Blues and Souljacker were just passable). This sequence means that album 6 due in 2005 will sadly not be as good as last year's fantastic Shootennany.

Helloo!! Great big Eels fan here, I have all those albums but the only ones I always still listen to are Beautiful Freak and Daisies of The Galaxy- one of those albums that defined a whole period of my life. I love their lyrics, Mr E. is such a genius. Completely agree with your list... plus Susan's House, which is a sad but brilliant song.

'Souljacker' is a weird album. I hated it to start with, but after about 3 or four listens it clicked, I love it now, and I also lurve Electro-shock blues, 'My descent into madness' and 'Last stop this town' are classics.

Hooray for Eels, though I have to agree with Flyswatter, in that albums 1, 3 and 5 are their best work - not that I don't like 2 and 4, I just don't think they hold together so cohesively.
'Daisies of the Galaxy' is their meister-stuck so far.

have heard them on the radio but never bought any albums. I am now going to buy a couple from Fopp in the hope of setting Eels back onto the righteous path of musical success. *smile*

Set to return in 2005 on E's independant label after being axed by Dreamworks. Hurrah!

The new album is a bit of a change from the last 2 and is much more in the vain of Electro-Shock. Hardly any rawcking tracks....
Its great to have them back.

Love the new double album. It's one fantastic record split apart and scattered into two very good records.

Beautiful Freak and Electo-Shock Blues are fantastic albums. "Susan's House" has to be one of my fave tracks ever - It never fails to give me a warm squishy feeling ( so to speak)
I can't see him ever topping those two albums. Daisies of the Galaxy was far too cheery for me - not that i'm a manic depressive or anything, but it just didn't work for me.

The new album 'Blinking Lights' is a thing of tremendous beauty. It's one of a very few selection of albums that isn't too long despite it being 33 tracks long. Standouts; Old Shit/New Shit, Lick Your Boots and I'm Going To Stop Pretending I Didn't Break Your Heart.

I've resisted downloading the new album with my shiny new broadband, I've got it on pre-order. I'm glad to hear it's a thing of beauty. Mind you, did we expect anything less? No!
In the meantime, I'm a bit annoyed to find out the iTunes exclusive tracks aren't available in the UK.
