Oooh I love it. I thought Billie Joe and friends had gone down the pan a bit of late but this song and their new album seem to be a return to form. And they are looking nice as ever.

Except Billie Joe IS Matt Busted. Or vice versa.
It's a nice song. Good Ol' Fashioned Greenday, bouncy enough for you to hop around to like an idiot without having to concentrate too hard on the political messaging.
It's ace live, as well.

the whole album is brilliant, 2 massive 9 minutes song and one ever so impressive song called "holiday".

Green Day are just so amazing they're almost beyond words. This songis, in my opinion, one of the best singles of the year. The video is quite good, too. I just hope the album can match it. I own Warning and Nimrod, and I love them both.

if you want to hear poor quality streamed versions of it, go to mtv.com it's on their leak, or you could listen to Zane Lowe's repeated show.

Except Billie Joe IS Matt Busted. Or vice versa. Yes, I noticed this as well. I thought it a little unfair that everyone criticises Matt Busted for his silly facial expressions where Billie Joe does exactly the same thing. Except for some reason when Matt does it it's fucking annoying.

I love Billie, he's lovely. Matt Busted has totally ripped him off. I'd sue.
Amercan Idiot is genious too. I got a limeted edition 7" too - woo!

I missed them beyond words, so so glad they're back - teach the world what punk-pop should sound like.
And Billy Jo, well, he's just so darn sexy he is. Now HE can wear eyeliner and pull faces..... (not mentioning any names) x

The album is easily their second best, ever. Like someone said, Holiday is awesome as is Are We The Waiting, St. Jimmy, the two epic songs, the title track and ever other song on the album.

Holiday is fucking genious, as is Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Its a shame all the person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me s have jumped on them now, because American Idiot is so cool, it's calling Americans idiots, hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahah. Fuck off.

As much as I love Green Day, the review of 'American Idiot' on Dotmusic (or Launch, whatever) was right - they've based their career on being idiots who happen to be American, and now they've done a U-turn and are 'slagging it off'.
Still, who cares.

i) I'm not sure this is true. The music is still as three-chord dumb as it ever was, but are the lyrics really any smarter? The subject matter might have changed, but I haven't heard anything gloriously insightful on American Idiot, and they were always a reasonably misanthropic band.
ii) Why is it so bad if it *is* true? People should accept that people change; I'm not the same person I was ten years ago, and I doubt any of you are either. The brilliant thing about being human is that you have the capability to reason with yourself and other people, and to admit that you're wrong. To criticise a band who've been around as long as Green Day for lacking coherent ideology over the course of however many albums is to take such a simplistic view of people: person A believes this thing and believes it forever, person B believes the next, and so on.

hammersmith was excellent! soo good in fact that i am going again in june when they play at milton keynes! i love green day so much...but american idiot (dont get me wrong, tis a great album) is just not as "fun" as their old old old stuff....from 1039 smoothed out slappy hours or kerpunk.
but woot! green day rule and i would gladly do anything for the three of the fantastic members!

The tour was fantastic. I wish I could go and see them at Milton Keynes (there's some great support), but it just isn't feasible.

I'm going to see them in Milton Keynes in June and I'm so excited I can't put it into words!!
Since they released American Idiot I went out and bought a lot of their old albums and they are so great that its makes me wonder why I didn't notice them before!
I also think American Idiot has so many genius lyrics in it, I can't see how anyone can say its not inspirational. And I don't think they're really attacking Americans in general, just the government and ol' Bush!

Milton Keynes is set to be a musical feast! TBS, JEW and the Almight Green Day! I know but I'm in two minds about going, having been so close to them at Hammersmith I'm not going to be satisfied with watching them from what will seem like miles away. It will also mean an overnight stay as I'm not going to drive up from London and back in one day. It's also going to be in the middle of summer which knowing our weather could mean anything from a heatwave to thunder storms! I'm not worried about getting a ticket if I do choose to go as good old Ebay will provide but I just can't decide, give me good reasons people, apart from the obvious "but it's Green Day!" Come on now, persuade me.

Need I mention support from "Taking Back Sunday" and "Jimmy Eat World"?
Although I didn't bother to make the difficult and expensive travel arrangements because the atmosphere can't be as good as their recent tour, in my opinion, and I've seen TBS live before as well. As for JEW, I will wait until they come to me (which they will, God damn it).

I just think anyone thinking about going should just book it and bloody well go. Why miss out on the opportunity.
I've got a big exam the next day for gods sake, I found out about it after I booked the tickets...I can't give my tickets up, I can't, I CAN'T......

Anyone go to milton keynes at the weekend? Yes. It was awesome. The best gig I have ever been to. I went yesterday, it was so fabulous. They are so good live, it was nice they did some older songs too, and Billie Joe pulling a moony - very nice!

I went too and I agree they were amazing. They perform so well and Billie Joe is so energetic on stage. My dad hated them, ended up having to wait for us outside listening to it, and he's been converted! I love how they can mix songs about boredom and masterbation in with emotional and political songs. I swear Billie Joe was crying during Wake Me Up When September Ends.
The performance at Live 8 was brilliant too.

Yup they did.
The night I was there they got up a young guy for the drummer, a girl up for the bass and a 14 year old kid to play lead guitar!!

The kid was wearing a black shirt and red tie? Billie Joe did seem to get emotional during 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'. It was a brilliant gig, I can't wait for the DVD.
