Very unlike me to be in this bit, and to be linking to Crusties weekly, but Suede's first 2 albums are 2 of the finest ever (alongside Busted, Hear'say and Tiffany) and I am exceptionally excited. www.nme.com/news/111579.htmHas anyone heard any songs?

no shit! excited much! Although judging by the last work of both apart it can't be too exceptional.

I saw them play live in Manchester last month.
They sound, well, a bit like Butler and Anderson-era Suede, to be honest. Neither of them seem much inclined to reinvent the wheel.
As far as what they're like, they're good but aren't going to set the world on fire - the sound isn't 'now' enough for that. A few good songs (The Lovers especially), and a few ones which sound like filler.
Having said all this, seeing them both on the same stage was great (being too young to have seen them pre-1994).

The bit of one song I have heard was verrry Suede-ish. Same ol same ol lyrics. That man needs to travel a bit more.
I'll buy it anyway.

Bernard posted in a relevant thread on their forum that they will not play Suede's songs like ever! It sounds a bit silly .. I mean, it would be fun for them to try some oddities like 'where the pigs don't fly' and the crowd would just go mental. it's not like people expect them to do the whole set. Bernard doing some Oakes compositions : a challenge! Why be so serious? What's DickieO up to these days anyway?
I wouldn't mind if someone bought the album for me as theres no way in hell that this could be found within 1000 mile radius of my home.

New single Refugees is alright, but they sound like Suede post-Bernard with Bernard on guitar only without songs like Trash. The album will probably be reasonable, unless you're hoping for Dog Man Star mk II.

Yes, that very article was the first post in a thread where post 2 was by Mr Butler going "no! never!".
I'm sure they will eventually if not pushed.

Didn't they already play a Suede song recently? Admittedly a B-side (The Living Dead) rather than anything too well-known, but still.

Having seen the Tears live now, I have to say they're rubbish. They're a pisspoor version of Suede and most of the songs are boring.
It's no surprise they're not regularly playing Suede stuff, because it'll make the new material pale in comparison.
Which is a shame, really, but there you go.

i saw them a few weeks back.
what with all the exitement and anticipation of their reunion, i'd have thought maybe they'd have put some effort into their clothes.
or at the very least had a wash.
but despite them looking rather scruffy, and brett resembling greg kelly out of corrie,i rather enjoyed them.
they did sing a nice song about one of the apollos, too.

I don't like the Bonnie and Clyde reference in the single. It's a bit tired and predictable. Haven't they talked about Bonnie and Clyde before in a song? Or was that someone else?

Just finished listening to the album - it's very similar to McAlmont & Butler, which shouldn't be too surprising - "Yes" in particular.
Brett still sounds more like he did in later Suede, rather more serious. I was hoping he'd find part of himself which seemed to leave Suede when Bernard did. The yelping / whacking a mic off his arse Brett who first greeted us.
Still, I really enjoyed it.

Bernard is a talented asshole. Brett seems incapable of moving beyond one theme in his music. Having said that, I'll buy it. BUT...
David McAlmont is a more worthy vocalist for Bernard.

I have heard Refugees and i do like it, although its not the revolution that I expected. Everybody says that the album's brilliant, though...has anybody heard it ?

The album is terrific, especially "Imperfection" and "Beautiful Pain." Besides the strings I really don't hear much on it that sounds like (the brilliant) McAlmont & Butler; those songs were more spacious, whereas "Here Come The Tears" tracks are stuffed to the gills with early-Suede-style Bernard guitar. I do agree with richie that Brett's vocals are more like Mark II Suede, especially on "Co-Star." No bad thing.
"Lovers" is nice enough but the wrong choice for a second single with its "Positivity"/"Lonely Girls"-ish lyrics. They should put out "Two Creatures" or "Imperfection" instead.
