Yes actually.
The Duke Spirit. I know they've been around for a couple of years, but as far as I'm aware, they've never really made an impact. They have a fantastic new single called "Love Is An Unfamiliar Name", with an album to follow in May. Looks-wise, the lead singer reminds of Nina Persson in the video, and she has very "Swedish" look about her in my opinion.
I've heard clips of their previous singles, and I'm really looking forward to the album.

Snp7586, if you want people to recommend new music for you to check out for youself, then without knowing what type of music you like then it's a bit difficult. Judging by the fact you like Pure T's, then perhaps you would prefere that people recommend other pop bands, inwhich case this thread would be better placed in the main pop and justice forum. Here is reserved for those of us who like indie music and are therefore likely to suggest mainly indie bands.
But if you're not fussed either way then hows about a band called the 'Shortwave Set', they have a downtempo sound (think of Jems single 'They'). I've only heard a couple of their tracks but they're both very ace indeed. Especially the song 'Is It Any Wonder'.
Other bands to check out are 'Black Moses' (rock), 'Hard-Fi' (punk rock) and 'Cut Copy' (electro-dance).

And the reason that it won't let you on the website is probably because baboon typed 'gooshoes' rather than 'goodshoes'. It's really not rocket science. EDIT: Scrap that, I think Good Shoes' website may be www.goodshoes.co.uk. Way to pimp said band.

Er.....don't you mean C H A V punk rock?. In any event, despite Hard-Fi being unfashionable and rather common, I've taken a liking to their peasant tales of woe and teen angst. The track 'Tied up to tight' fucking rules!. Also, perhaps some of you should investigate a band by the name of 'Rilo kiley' at www.rilokiley.com. While there, perhaps you should listen to three tracks from their new album, paying particular attention to the song 'Portions for foxes' for it is aceness. They're not going to set the world on fire, but they just might rock your boat, perhaps.

Er.....don't you mean C H A V punk rock?. No, I mean punk rock. And 'Portions For Foxes' is ace, undecided about some of their other tracks though.

Sigh, Rilo Kiley are wonderful. So wondeful that I even threw myself out of lurkerdom to let everyone know of their wonder. Portions for Foxes is brilliant song, but my personal recommendation would be Love and War.
That said i do belief that their second album is where most of thier bestest, acest tracks lie. (see; execution of all things, spectacular views, a better son/daughter, paint's peeling etc.)

I'm not hugely taken with "More Adventurous" but it does have some nice moments. "The Execution of All Things" is definetely their finest moment so far. If you've not listened to anything by "The Elected" you should - it's driven by Blake Sennett of Rilo Kiley and the album "Me First" features Jason the drummer and contributions from Jimmy Tamborello (The Postal Service, DNTEL) amongst others. You can download the two best tracks "Go On" and "Greetings in Braille" from the Sub Pop website which is rather snazzy. www.subpop.com/scripts/main/multimedia.php?key=bandname&value=Elected%2C+TheI think it's a shame we've heard less of Blake's voice on the latest album as he used to crop up quite a bit before. "Ripchord" is fantastic though and absoloutley amazing when they do it live. In other exciting RK related news, Jenny Lewis has a solo album out later this year on Team Love (Conor "Bright Eyes" Oberst's label, home of Willy Mason) which should be good - will be interesting to see how much it differs from the stuff with the band.

I love The Duke Spirit, I saw them live supporting Razorlight. I thought the singer was prettier, then I saw the video; she looks more Bjorky on TV.
The Subways are ace. They only got to number 25, despite their song being all about the lovin'. The bassist's voice can be a bit annoying, but her cute jumpiness makes up for it.

Portions for Foxes is brilliant song, but my personal recommendation would be Love and War. I beg to differ, despite being ace, does 'Love and war' have gratuitous use of the word ' sex'?, I think not.

I have a strange love of that song.
I think it's because it reminds me of the old low-fi recorded-at-home Rilo Kiley from when they actually used to let Blake sing.
Aside from that, I just think it's a really lovely, tragic, wallow-in-self-pity song.
Sure, you could stick some drums, bass and more guitars over the top - but to what ends - to make it into a "great pop moment"? It doesn't need that.

The ga-gas (www.thegagas.com) are quite good. I saw them live a little while ago... think they've got some video and audio to hear on their sites.
I need to listen to Rilo Kiley cos I know NOTHING about them. My housemate has the album though x

Other new bands for your consideration:
Editors, their latest track 'Blood' is very good indeedy, they sound abit like Interpol but don't take this too literally.
ALSO!
Clor, their first two singles 'Outlines' and the even better 'Love and pain' rule!
