This is the most awesome metal song of the year. Or rather, the best two or three metal songs rolled up into one of the year. Discuss...

Nothing much to discuss from my viewpoint other than I completely agree - am awaiting new album and can't wait for tour - was listening to Steal this Album this morning on bus and only served to remind me what a fantastic band they are!

It's good, but somehow feels...different from their old stuff. Not to diminish how successful they've been in the past, from the sounds of the new album, it could well find them a new audience, as American Idiot did for Green Day.

I'm not a huge System Of A Down fan, but a friend sent me BYOB and I really like it. Agreed that it does sound like a few songs mashed into one, but that just makes it cooler. Although some may see the political undertones and just like it because it's "cool" to like politically motivated bands. Case in point: Green Day.

System of a Down have always been political though. Prison Song and Deer Dance from Toxicity stand out as the most political songs. It's unfair to imply that they've jumped on Green Day's bandwagon when they've always questioned and criticized politics.
BYOB is great. The whole album is great, especially Radio/Video.

My album only arrived from Play this morning. Is even better than I expected. Am loving Radio/Video as well. They are doing a special on Kerrang! radio tomorrow night picking some of their favourite tracks and answering fans questions. They are usually really interesting when being interviews.
Bring on Audioslave on Monday!

It's fucking immense. Not as good as Chop Suey and Aerials, but still pretty earth shattering. The best bit is blatantly "Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine."

Radio 1's edit ruins the song, if you ever hear it on there. They leave out all the controversial bits.

It's unfair to imply that they've jumped on Green Day's bandwagon when they've always questioned and criticized politics. I didn't quite mean it like that. I meant that, since this song is getting a fair amount of air play, it could be in part due to the political undertones that it's getting it's mainstream success. I didn't mean that they were jumping on Green Day's bandwaggon - I know System have done political. I meant that certain types will jump on it because of the political bandwaggon, without any real knowledge of the political system that they live in, or in this case, the American's live in.

I love it. My mum hates it.
Can't decide whether I like this or Chop Suey more though.

I love System Of A Down...well, I liked Toxicity, never really listened to the second album. BYOB is class, need to listen to it a bit more. I love the drumming.

It's so much better than Chop Suey.

Toxicity *is* the second album. They had a self titled one before it, which is all kinds of ace.
I'm fucking loving Mesmerize (Mezmerise? I can't remember where the 'z' goes...) - I think it's astonishing how their songs can be so heavy yet oh-so-catchy.

*Third album. Wow, I've come a long way in the past 3 years, music-taste-wise. Obviously not because Toxicity is their second full length album. Their self-titled album was first, although they did have an EP before that.

I still know all of the words to Chop Suey, though. That must count for something... Not if you sing it like Avril Lavigne did.

'Voilent Pornography' on their album Mezmerize is simply wonderful, and rather amusing at the same time.
"Itsa violent pornography, choking chicks and sodomy, the kind of shit thats on your TV"...how lovely!

JC Chasez should record a pop-version of BYOB.

That's the thing about Green Day and "SOAD", they're alright, if it just wasn't for their cuntish fanbase, I'd quite happily declare a slight admiration for them, slight being the operative word, some of the material Green Day have put out is dismal
