Nice. Anyone else hearing 'Cars & Girls' by Prefab Sprout, set to guitars?

Just to clarify:
"I seen you darling/seen you hanging round town/you in a short skirt/shining eyes of deep brown" (Hard To Beat)
"Life's no cruise/with a cool chick/too many folks/feeling car sick" (Cars & Girls)
A heavily influenced melody, no?

I love this song - it's so raw and spiky, it's great. Ones to watch out for I think.

I like it too, I was surprised they got so high in the chart (Was it number 5?) because I wasn't aware they had done that much promo for it.

It was out this week, so it should chart today - unless you're going on midweeks or something.
They've done Popworld, the video's been on quite heavy rotation on a number of channels and they've been touring non stop so I guess they've been promoting it quite a bit.

I'd recommend the album. It has some nice acouticy, quiet moments as well as those big hands in the air summer anthem type bits.
The next single is "Living for the Weekend". The Indie anti-Michael Gray. Or a kind of more gritty "Friday I'm In Love" with added Staines attitude. Ace.

The Indie anti-Michael Gray. Why anti?

Because the Michael Gray track was bilge.
Because there are much better "Hooray it's Friday" songs that actually have proper lyrics and sound dynamic and interesting - such as this one.
But most of all.. because I say so.

I'm hearing equal parts "One More Time" by Daft Punk and "The Bomb" by Bucketheads. Played wth guitars which is very nice and LCDS of them.

I just bought the album and its ace. Any indie fans will love it, not a bad track on it.

The chords are different enough that I'm not hearing Cars and Girls. Still, comparing to Prefab Sprout is a surefire way to get me to listen to anything.
Great song, thanks! And I wanted to add that a mash-up of Cars and Girls with One More Time would be incredible.

They've become this year's "oh, so THEY did that song I like on Sky Sports" band. How come that always brings success...

I was a bit confused that Channel 4 used "Living for the weekend" as the theme tune to the V coverage, when Hard-fi (tragically) weren't on the bill. I love "Hard to beat' but I love the new single even more. The album is fantastic, they are great live- my only regret is not getting tour tickets before they all sold out.

I'm hearing equal parts "One More Time" by Daft Punk and "The Bomb" by Bucketheads. Played wth guitars which is very nice and LCDS of them. Couldn't agree more. It's the best rock-music-that-sounds-like-dance-music track in ages. You could almost play it in Ibiza. Speaking of the V Ads, Jen, I was so disappointed when they used Chicken Payback by The Bees on the T4 Summer Roadshow Thing adverts. Way to give us false hope.

The lead singer is pretty hot too, in a dirty person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me vy kind of way. Gggrrrr
