I love it. I think the mind sort of fills in the blanks where instruments should be; when it gets to the end, I swear I'm tapping along with the beat; but there isn't one. It's very pretty, but so different that it can't be just put to the side under the assumption that it's a (possibly Bluntian) boring, over-sentimental song.

Seems to me that it's about a break up and is not sentimental at all. It's a grower song - not an immediate thing. The CD is my favorite of the year- just AMAZING music. She is a goddess.

No...it was played when Caleb had his funeral. Duh. At first, it seemed very insensitive and weird, but then I started to realise its full genius.

Later the song plays at the end of the episode." Duh. www.musicfromtheoc.com/its my mission to own all those songs.legally

My bad. Well, Marissa's bad, really. I like that The OC has all of these lovely songs, I'm sure the Kaiser Chiefs will be on next season, or Seth will have a poster of theirs in his room.

The OC has an excellent soundtrack! the soundtrack albums are excellent stuff for all indie kids naughty Marissa! there's a trailer for Season 3 floating about the web, though it doesnt say much.

The Kaiser Chiefs have already been played on the show, although it was Na Na Na Na Naa rather than one of the singles and was played when Seth was in Miami doing the Spring Break contest thing. Checking the web site they also had Saturday Night played when Trey was accused of stealing from a shop and went a bit loony about it.
I really like this song too although I think I still prefer Let Go by her band Frou Frou which is on the Garden State soundtrack. She has such a lovely voice and singing style and lovely songs to match. She also has a different song called Goodnight And Go on The OC Mix Tape 4. You might remember it being played in a scene between Seth and Alex.

Gorgeous song, agreed. She had some little song on the Six Feet Under soundtrack a while back, too. I'm truly hoping her solo CD does well. She's underrated!

She just opened for Tori Amos on recent US dates. It's unfortunate there's no release scheduled over here given that and her soundtrack successes. Immi wrote on her website that it's taking quite a bit of time to sign an American record deal.

She canceled her Tori US dates b/c she has no US label.
Goodnight and Go is even better than Hide And Seek IMO.

I love this song and although I haven't watched that O.C. episode, I can imagine that it fits perfectly. Her new album is amazing and so far one of my favourites of 2005.
And I agree, The O.C. soundtracks are fantastic. Except the third one, which I don't like at all. Noone needs christmas classics all acoustic-ish.

Thanks xolondon for that info. I felt bad about missing her and am glad to know I didn't miss anything!

its my mission to own all those songs.legally And it is their mission to fulfil such a mission by releasing them all on an potentially and most probably endless number of those soundtrack cds. I must agree though, that often - irksome Coldplay tracks aside, a lot of the music on the OC is great.

I meant actually playing in that Bait Shop place where Alex and Marissa used to exchange awkward looks. It's a bit crap that she couldn't open for Tori anymore. Does this mean the record labels will rush to sign her?

Speak for yourself is great. Hid and Seek is the standout. I love the way it builds up and her voice becomes more distorted. Goodnight and Go is ace as is Daylight Robbery and Headlock off the new album. I hope shedoes get a deal because she seems to be getting put on loads of soundtracks.

Imogen's album is indeed amazing, 'Hide And Seek' is possibly the best song on it, very haunting and quite sombre, just lovely.

I love, love, love the album. Its brilliance hit me on the first listen which is quite rare for me. My standouts are Hide and Seek (obviously), Closing In and Headlock. She really put the icing on the cake of an already ace OC episode and she's wonderful.

Love that drum attack toward the end of "Closing In" (and the "what are you liiiiike" middle 8).
If you like Madonna, Goldfrapp, Frou Frou, HElicopter Girl, etc, you NEED this album. It is one of the best of the year. Takes some time to get into, but it's genius.

The video is perfect as well...so simple and serene, yet powerful. I adore the song. And I agree that by the "Mmmmm, What'd you say" bit, I'm marching to the silent beat as well.

What has happened to this song? It was all over Radio 1 for a few days, but I haven't heard it recently.
