Having dropped off my radar for a short while they have returned with a top class single, 'I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer'.
With an excllent b-side and an ace live version of 'My Favourite Game' it deserves to go straight to number 1 (or at least 10, as that's where all the best songs chart these days).
Has anyone got their last LP? I didn't even know they had one after Gran Turismo until I saw it on Amazon.

Really, really, really love the new single! Best song title of the year, for sure. I've only just got into Long Gone Before Daylight, and now I wish I got into it sooner. Looking forward to hearing the new album.

And Then You Kissed Me is brilliant off the last album, and they've done a sequel to it on Super Extra Gravity.

The Cardigans are being painfully ignored in the UK for some reason, and have been since Gran Turismo. But I'm glad they're still making records, their last album is one of the best CDs I own, and I hope the new one lives up to it. I've only heard the new single twice, and that was after I bought it, so I'm not sure what to make of it yet. The video looks cool though.

I'm not at all taken with it; am hoping it will grow on me. There's a couple of tracks that measure up to the brilliance of I Need Some Fine Wine... but it seems to be lacking a certain spark, the tunes are never quite memorable enough. The 20-second song 'Bonus Tracks' is one of the highlights, weirdly enough.

Just heard it the other day....and I'm very disappointed. If it wasn't for Fine Wine...(and the already mentioned 'Bonus Tracks') I don't think there'd be a song I like. Hopefully it'll grow on me too.

I think I'm possibly the only person that actually likes "Super Extra Gravity". The trouble is, having an album as amazing as "Long Gone Before Daylight", I think people were expecting something equally as good, whereas I knew they would never manage to quite follow it up. It's a one-off, absolute classic. I was unsure of "Super Extra Gravity" at first, but give it time and keep listening to it. It's a real grower, or so I found anyway.
"Godspell", "Good Morning Joan" and "Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds)" are already some of The Cardigans' best ever songs.

I grew up to the sound of the synthesizer.

Agreed on your choices from the new album - anyone who can't get into the new record should start with those, esp Don't Blame...

i have exactly the same problems with the album, i absolutely adored Long gone..., and the new album just seems to be missing something. it's just a little too "rock" for me, and those gorgeous melodies just don't seem to be there anymore..

After repeated listens, I'm still not that taken with it as a whole, but 'Good Morning Joan' is shaping up to be my favourite track of theirs ever.

Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds) is the best song I've ever heard of their's. I'd never been a huge fan in the past but this new album is easily my favourite work they've done. For the record, I wasn't that keen on the single. I reckon it's one of the weaker points on Super Extra Gravity.

Right, from now on I think I shall shut up, but let it be known that every second listen, the greatness of another track dawns on me. The first five tracks are simply wonderful, and I expect that by the end of the week, this album will be one of my 2005 favourites. It's amazing that such a simple musical set-up can create music that's so stealthy in its pop greatness. it is all due to Nina's lyrics, I think.

I'd say it's all due to the tiny bits of male skin you see in the booklet. The Cardigans are a pretty band.

At first I didn't really like any of it. At the moment I like about half the songs and am indifferent to the other half. But this has happened to me with every single Cardigans album I own - disappointment giving way to a gradual dawning of how brilliant it is.

Not got the album, but I Need Some Fine Wine, And You, You Need To Be Nicer, is not only the best song title of the year, it's one of the best singles of the year. Severly underrated.

Quick bump to say Don't Tell Your Daughter is confirmed as the second single. It's my favourite off the album so good choice, although I expect to it reach the giddy heights of number 138 over here.

As much as I love "Don't Blame Your Daughter", I'm surprised they've chosen it for a single. I thought "Godspell" was the obvious second single.
