Best musical Corinne since La Drewery.
Is anyone else LOVING "Like a Star"? Jo Whiley's been playing this all week. Sia fans, especially, should take note.
The download services have one track sung by Corinne, "Young and Foolish," which is pretty good; this is from an album "Better Luck Next Time" by The stiX (or however you spell it), which is quite nice nu-R&B and features vocals by Katie Holmes. (Not that one.)

Fucking hell - those clips on her website are amazing. The Sia comparisons are all too apt - it's like the missing link between Healing Is Difficult and Colour The Small One.
Very promising indeed....

Heard Like A Star on Radio 2 a couple of weeks ago but never got the name, just remembered a haunting, child-like, nearly Bjorkish voice. Then she was on Jools Holland last night. Just....wow.

You know what, I've just realised I went to school with her. Back then she was just Corinne Bailey and she was in a shit indie band.
I realise that this is of no interest to anyone, but I'm astonished.

I saw Corinne on jools Holland, and she was by far the best thing on there, then I caught I think it was Edith on radio one playing the song. Amazing track. The album should do really well I reckon. Nice to see some wicked new female artists coming out of the Uk, like Corinne and Mooli, who is another amazing new artist.

I saw this video today. Have to say, I don't really see the Sia comparisons. Martina Topley-Bird sprang to mind for me - I actually thought it might have been her new video.

'Like A Star' is very nice and Corrine has a beautiul voice. I bought the EP but wasn't overly impressed with the other tracks. Maybe they'll grow on me. I reckon her album could go either way, it could be full of laid-back acoustic soul, or it could be something more innovative and interesting such as Bjork or Sia. I'd prefer the latter. She's certainly something special though.

Her website is a bit too chintzy for my liking, all butterflies and stars, but the voice is really, really great. Like A Star is such a grower. Agreed that she sounds like a baby Topley Bird (whose album from a couple of years back is amazing, btw)- all the smoke without the sinister, which is kind of equally good and bad.
Looking forward to the album- 2006 is gunna be awesome.

I think she sounds a bit like Rickie Lee Jones. It's interesting when a new singer emerges so fully formed. Literally like a star. I wonder if everyone will know her in a year's time?

"Put Your Records On" is ace. Just one hearing today on Whiley and it's been completely stuck in my head all day.

I haven't heard much by her, but Enchantment is amazing. Listening to it, you can almost imagine trip-hop becoming fashionable again, rather than being music to eat sticky toffee pudding by.
She does sound a lot like Martine Topley-Bird to me, not that this is a bad thing. People often forget how unusual she sounded on Maxinequaye (which, Jesus Christ I feel old, is ten years old now).
