Ok everyone. I have decided to start a Yahoo Group just for the Eurovision poll. Some of you will have received an invitation email but if you haven't you can still join up! You can join it here: groups.yahoo.com/group/pjescThe other options would have been a poll on the PJ site, but the results for that are public and this may make people vote for a particular song to knock it out. The other option was to have people PM me their choice, but this would have meant a lot of work for me counting the votes, and also there would be no way for me to fix the results (as if I would!) All you have to do is vote for your LEAST favourite song which is left in the competition. At the end of every deadline (which will probably be every 24/48hrs or so) the song with the most votes will be knocked out - like Survivor. We will be voting firstly on the 23 Semi Final countries. When these are down to 10 they will join the 14 finalists and voting will keep going until we are down to the last few where voting will change and you will vote for your winner. Not sure if I will leave 2 or 3 in the final yet. Since there is about 56 days left to the semi, and we have about 35 songs to get rid of, the semi countries will probably be knocked out every day or so and then every second day for the final proper. This group will also be used for the Popjustice Eurovision Awards 2006 where there will be numerous awards both good and bad in many different categories - details for this will come later on. Remember that the Yahoo group is ONLY meant for polls and NOT for chat, as that is what this forum is for! Any questions please get in touch. I will leave registration open, and in order to let people have time to register, I will leave the first round of voting up until Midnight on Sunday (that's Monday morning). The song with the most votes is out - if there is a tie, then, well I haven't quite worked that out yet! Happy voting and make sure you all join! D x UPDATE - The poll for Round 1 is online Now - Deadline March 26! P.S. If you haven't heard all the songs, www.hoteyes.net is a good place to start!

Ooh! This is great!
So we aren't allowed to reveal who we voted for until the poll is closed?

Well, when the poll is over, the results will be emailed to all the board members, and everyone can see who voted for whom. But it stays secret until the poll ends. Except for me! Mwa ha ha!

We will - that's all to come in the First annual PJ Eurovision Awards. I was thinking of calling them the Douze Points Awards for all the good awards, then have another awards ceremony called the Nul Points one for all the crapness. Or should I just amalgamate the awards.
I'll be asking for help on which categories there should be in a wee while. I'm still yet to figure out how to pick the nominations for each category!

Oooh, the polls look like fun. Since I can't vote in the actual Eurovision, I'll get into this.
If you need a way to pick nominations for the Awards, why not ask everyone free response, and make polls with the top 3/4/5/whatever responses?

Just got the results. Probably the worst song lost, I'm sure I would have voted for it if I had heard it before I voted for Belarus'.

I am shocked and appalled at all the votes Ireland received.
It's not *that* bad, is it?
(And, yes, I do realise I liked LoveQuestionMark last year too but it's not just patriotic stuff, honest. I hated Chris Doran and that Fat Hairdressing Lady).

It's not *that* bad, is it? Yes, it is. And I shall vote for it every round til it buggers off. (although it may be that I'm being *slightly* harsher with it than I would do with some other countries as I always hope for something better for Ireland than we inevitably end up getting)

I too had expected more from the mighty Mr Kennedy, but instead we get a ballad that's on par with Eamonn Tool's "Millenium of Vomit"
Deeply disappointed..

So Lithuania are gone! Thanks to all 18 people who voted. Round 2 is up now. Voting closes midnight tomorrow (Tuesday) so get your votes in. Iceland and Ukraine have both changed their song titles.
I am leaving the option open where everyone can see who everyone voted for. Should I keep this option on or make it secret?

Ahh, basically the Weakest Link concept from the esc_gen list, then, except with fewer Anne Robinson impressions. Excellent.

Ireland really isn't so horrible. Nothing like as useless as, say, Bulgaria. Sort of glad Lithuania's gone, but I just realise I've removed 50% of this year's French content

Sorry Ireland! In all fairness, now I've lived with the songs a bit more, my opinion on Ireland has changed anyway and I haven't voted for them this time.

But I'm with you on Bulgaria.

Do you think Bulgaria's that bad? I can't get past Belarus. There's something about it that makes me dirty after I've watched it. It feels like exploitation and looks like Topshop 1992. It makes me cringe. And want to scrub...

I just can't find anything to like about Bulgaria. At least Belarus is (infuriatingly) catchy.

Malta isn't bad, but no way in hell is it winning. I did a semi-scientific calculation today (at eurovision.tummiweb.com/) and Germany wins by a decent margin over Greece. You might get dfferent results if you do it yourself though.

I don't actually think this will be the results though A
