It's also Sweden, a very liberal country who are surprisingly non-liberal when it comes to anything getting in the way of their Eurovision entry.

Good luck to Daz. While everyone is wanking over Anthony Costa's lazy and predictable effort, Daz has found the type of bizarre novelty pop song which always does well at Eurovision. Besides, even if it was the best song in the world, it would probably still fail because nobody likes Britain.
Daz's effort is a breath of fresh air next to the urban pop plop we were landed with last year.

Just seen them on that "Boom Bang a Bang" show on BBC1. I was very impressed. The vocals actually sound better than on the studio version, since they are not all editted and stuff. Wasn't the chorus on the studio version Daz himself?
And they still have all the rehersals in Athens to do.

Wasn't the chorus on the studio version Daz himself? The single inlay says "Children's choir production by John Matthews, featuring Jenny McLaren." I'm not sure if Daz is actually on there himself, but I can definitely pick out John and Jenny's voices. I think the girls sounded better on the rehearsal film I posted the link for, so it's looking good!

Hello there Yes, this seems like an ideal opportunity to cash in and plug my band, by which I mean, answer a question. The kids singing on the single is basically myself and my sister Jenny - www.spraynet.co.uk - singing through a pitch shifter, with a bit of added Daz to flesh it out in the end. "Ric" off of Spray

Ooh, Daz on the BBC website: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4943170.stmDiscussing Jemini he says: "If they were on fire I'd walk past those two. They disgraced this great country of ours in the world's greatest musical competition." A man after our own hearts...

The photograph with "I must win eurovision" lines on the blackboard is genius! I really hope he does well now.

Jemini didn't disgrace this "great" country of ours. They were just a couple of kids who fucked up. If Daz does well at Eurovision, I'll be really pleased to see the Uk doing well, but I wouldn't care if we were rock bottom again to be honest. He's an arrogant prick. He's hardly a great ambassador for this country - not all of us are working class you know!

Err, is Daz Sampson's entry breaking Eurovision rules? The Spacekats record is basically the same and was released over 2 years ago with different music underneath. So it's either a cover version or was released before the Eurovison deadline (1 Oct 2005). Do the vocals count as a sample and is that allowed? How have they got round this?

They disgraced this great country of ours in the world's greatest musical competition." A man after our own hearts... He's great. It's really good to see a UK entry who clearly cares about the competition (and it's obvious he does, he knows his stuff), even if it does come across as arrogance. And Jemini did disgrace the UK - we have a great musical heritage in this country, and if you can't even manage to sing the correct vocal part when under pressure then you're not up to being up there on stage in front of millions. And then to try and blame their poor showing on the gulf war afterwards. They were an embarrassment from start to finish.

It's really nice to see someone taking it so seriously. You tell that he genuinely wants to win so badly. His song is also not completely shit. The whole chorus reminds of the 90s actually, very bubblegum pop.
I have to say, I think he's right about the the UK putting the blame on political voting being wrong. It's not just political voting. Fair enough, Touch My Fire was quite a good song in a opinion, but James Fox's entry before that? Dreadful. And of course it was Jemini back in 2003.

"Ric" off of Spray You know I would have got a plug or two in eventually! Now I'm sure qbahn/Ric/John will correct me if I'm wrong, because I barely know Daz, but I think his Jemini comments were probably meant to be more tongue in cheek. I read a report of the press conference the BBC story came from, and it says it was the funniest session so far. www.esctoday.com/news/read/6163Right from when he won MYMU, I've thought Daz might be trying to be funny, but it's not coming across properly. I don't think he's truly arrogant, I think he's putting it on to show he's serious and confident, or perhaps even that it's a cover to hide the fact he is slightly nervous. I've heard him on the radio plugging non-serious stuff and he's always funny and willing to take the piss out of himself. I mean, anyone who goes on stage looking like this can't be too much of an arrogant bastard, surely?

We've gone over this before. And the EBU have had enough time to do something about it if it did break the rules.

Having seen a few interviews with Daz over the past week he comes across as an absolute wanker. I will be very pleased if we receive nul points this year just to wipe the grin off his face. What I find the most annoying is that he could have given us a brilliant pop/dance track to be proud of a la Uniting Nations or Spray, so why give us Another Brick in the Wall meets St Winifred's School Choir?
And please tell me he will not be wearing the same bloody stonewashed denim ensemble that he's been wearing for the past 2 months on Saturday night - that is so B*Witched 1998.

To be honest I don't think it was really Jemini's fault they failed. If you believe the ear-piece failed then it's one of many factors adding up to failure. Here is the top 10:
1) earpiece failed so girl (Jemma?) sang off key. 2) boy was irritating as fuck 3) boy was spoon-faced 4) girl was only shown "dress" (i.e. t-shirt with tinsel wrapped around the bottom) just before the contest and wasn't comfortable being so exposed 5) boy was a gimp 6) song was shit and didn't go anywhere 7) girl looked panicked as if she could see an assassin about to bump off her parents 8) the only reason she'd have been a cry baby was because he'd stolen her foundation and blusher again so the song was entirely unbelievable 9) boy kept pulling stupid faces, making his spoon-face look like a factory accident 10) the song was shit.
As you can see, political voting and the Gulf War 2 played no part in their failure. Daz is thus in part correct.

Didn't Carola have a technical malfunction when she one in 1891?

The PA system in the hall broke down, so the audience in the hall couldn't really hear very much. It broke down half-way through the song, and a lot of people thought she scored points for her professionalism in carrying on, as well as for the actual song and performance. Watching it on TV you couldn't tell anything had gone wrong, but Terry announced it straight after the song finished with some very positive comments for Carola.

He said the song wasn't that good or something, but the performance was. At the beginning he also said she was performing "in a force 9 gail".

One of the backing girls, the one on the decks, is the one who lost out to Jemini in 2003. I remember voting for her song.

I thought she looked a bit old. She is actually really pretty, but in the full school uniform her head looks massive and she looks like a bit of a man.

That sounded funny, like when someone says, "yeah, my friend, like, she's really pretty. Yeah, she's like, a bit fat right, and her front teef are missin', and she's got, like, acne an' shit, right, but she's like, really pretty right?"
