Sorry if this has been covered already but I couldn't find it.
When I placed (my first ever) bet on Kate Ryan last week Carola was favourite, Daz was third (wtf?!) and my beloved Kate had slipped to fourth.
I am not a hardcore Eurovision fan like you guys, I prefer to watch it the old fashioned way and see the songs and performances for the first time on the night (I only know Kate's song because I am a big fan of hers). What I would like to know from some kind soul is whether the Carola song is any good as I stand to make a small fortune if Kate wins!

Carola's is brilliant schlager. She sells it well and it will do well. I wouldn't think it's a winner, but it'll be 'up there'.
For the last few years, I've put slews of bets on my favourites and always ended up with next to nothing. I vowed I wouldn't this year, but I've succumbed and stuck a tenner each way on Germany.

Oddschecker (click), which shows odds across a variety of bookies, has Kate at about 6th, just ahead of Daz. Biggest surprise for me is Russia being so high and Germany not being much higher. I suspect this year will be quite different from last - I really think the contest is more wide open than the odds suggest (and reports from the rehearsals seem to be backing that up) which means there could be money to be won. I personally are hoping for Germany to win the double (Eurovision & the World Cup) which for quite a small amount would win me hundreds of pounds.

Ha, Germany. I couldn't believe it when I heard that song. Sorry, but I don't think you're going to be winning any bets.

I love the German song, but then I loved Grazia (sp?) last year and she came last >: (

It's really wide open this year, so to speak.
I've fingered Germany, Norway, Belgium and Estonia, as well as the UK for pride reasons.
I still want to back Monaco or Malta too! It's madness.

Sounds like we're in for a good night then - I love that there isn't a clear favourite.
If it comes down to the last vote eg Sonia v Malta in 1993 I will bite my fingers off!
