I can't believe Belgium and Estonia didn't make the final.
Silvia didn't make the final (sort of expected though)
And yet the dire performances from Armenia and Macedonia qualified.
I am bored of it and will not be watching.
I suppose it aint much, but really. How can Lithuania get through over Belgium.
*Sits in a sulk*

I don't believe you....
I agree Armenia and Macedonia were poor vocally though. Armenia was sharp all the way through and Macedonia just sounded weak - would benefit from louder backing.

I agree I was disgusted at no Belgium and Estonia, but at least there's Carola near the end, giving her a better chance too...

At the end of the day, Europe votes for what Europe wants. We should respect what's chosen. Just cos we dont like Armenia doesn't mean that everyone else in Europe has to dislike it too.
I was upset that Belgium, Estonia and Iceland didn't get through but hey that's what happens in Eurovision!!!

Words of wisdom from jamstar. The majority of people on this forum are British/Irish, with maybe a couple of other Western Europeans. Because we didn't really like certain countries doesn't mean others are not allowed to.
Yes both countries were vocally a bit weak, but so was Kate Ryan, and that didn't stop us from voting for her and thinking she should go through. Armenia was visually very good, with all the dancers and stuff, and the song itself is good. I really liked FYROM as well. And she did the end in Macedonian which almost everyone in the former Yugoslavia and in Bulgaria understand.
The big upset is Lithuania. That's the one that really didn't deserve it.

Ah, but talking to my non-eurovision-liking friends, they pointed to Lithuania and Finland as "different" and "hilarious".

Yeh, actually my non-Eurovision friend voted for Lithuania becuase of the "crazy bald man". I actually really like Finland's song, but the live vocals were a bit crap. How did they get the high pitched vocals? There was a backing singer in a hooded robe, but it looked like a fat man. Is the Lordi thing on the keyboard a woman?

A Iceland was also great but sadly Silvia's brand of humour just wasn't right for Eurovision. I bet the UK loved it. Can't wait to see the UK votes for the semi when they're published.

I think that's part of the mild annoyance of the semi-final. You don't know who's voted, how, for whom etc. So it's bewildering and fantastic, but irks too. At least we'll know in the final...
...or will we?

It's the drama that keeps Eurovision exciting. Who won;t make it through? Who will give a bad performance? And who in God's name will win?
I am praying it's not the double-barrelled Harry Mata-Hari.

I think he's going to suffer a lot by the place in the draw. And votes for a ballad may go Ireland's way, god help us all.

I'd rather an Irish ballad tha Lane Moje part 15. Which we'll soon end up with if Lejla does well.

You realise, don't you, that Ireland getting to the final with this song seals the fate of Irish entries for the next 10 years? It's balladeers all the way.

To be honest I'd written Ireland off for doing anything interesting since Marc Roberts 1997 entry. That was their best song in the 90s. Better than the Martin, the Quinn, the Cavanagh and the living dead that won in 1994. Since then I can't remember any Irish stunners. Just those two fat sisters in 1999. And my Ma's Irish, so we always pay careful attention.

Since then I can't remember any Irish stunners. Not a stunner but Donna & Joe are unforgettable! I was glad to see Dima Bilan keep the Joe-doing-the-helicopter spirit alive last night! A

Let's face it, it's settling into a bit of a regular format now:
At least: * 1 country will enter a heavy metal effort * 1 country will enter a comedy act (this year 3- Silvia, LT United and Severina) * 1 country will enter a song with an element of rap * a solo or group of black artists will never win * overtly homosexual men willed be fucked by the voters * Ireland will always enter a ballad with a loving the children are our weeping puppies save the world * Greece will NEVER EVER EVER forgive Iceland for Silvia Night's comments.

Do you not think Severina's song is tongue-in-cheek? The video's hilarious and it appears that it's meant to be. I love it and want it to do well, and I'm rather pleased that she'd worked out a decent stage show.

The Bosnian entry is much better than Ireland. Ireland is still doing 1980s Eurovision ballads. I admit Bosnia starts off slow, but it builds nicely. I usually don't like this type of song, and I hated Lana Moje, but I wouldn't be dissapointed if Bosnia won.

I know it's a matter of taste, but personally I think both songs are terrible. I thought Lane Moje was dreary but I thought it far superior to Lejla.

I love it and want it to do well, and I'm rather pleased that she'd worked out a decent stage show. It's meant to be fun, yes, but comedy, no! On refflection I can see why you could think that of it I guess though. And I don't like Lejla either, nor did I like Lane Moje much (or Sanomi, but that's a whole different ballgame). But mainly I don't want Bosnia to win because I'd really like the contest somewhere nice, sunny and western next year, and then i'd go...

I think it could look comedy to us because they are dressed funny and singing in foreign. But this is basically traditional Slavic folk music.
I think maybe the choice of lyrics is meant to be funny though. All the "techka lechka, bechka, smechka, hechka,", "Afrika Paprika", etc.

Have you seen the video? The backing group are pulling funny faces all over the show and the lyrics are funny! This is why I referred to it as a comedy entry, meaning it was funny rather than it is a Lithuanian-style joke.

Pop star from the Balkan countries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lepa_BrenaHer songs are about fantastic things like having long legs to enjoy dancing and marrying sheiks for their money. (Adem on the boards here knows much about her) A
