Hi Eurovision fans...still in mourning over Belgium (although like the rest, having seen the performance I can understand why it might have happened).
Hypothetical question - I know that there are many different rules for Eurovision in terms of what must be done on the stage. What about the performer? Could, for example, Kate Ryan sing for Belgium every year, over and over again? I know it certainly might get boring having the same person go every year, but I guess I am just wondering.

Technically she could do it. The countries can pretty much send who they want. This is Carola's third time after all...

I don't see why not but I can't imagine it happening. Carola's a prime example, it's her third time now and I'm sure we'll see her again.....

Seeing that Belgium is a complicated country she could at the very best compete every other year.

Thanks all, I knew Carola had competed multiple times, but since it sounded like it had been spread out over a couple of years I wasn't sure if there was a rule or not. Don't really know why I wanted to know this...cause it would be a bit rubbish to see the same person year after year. Although I guess if they wanted to win bad enough.
PS I'm thinking of proposing a reality show to a number of European TV broadcasters...take an unknown American with no professional music/stage training and turn him into a Eurovision competitor. Think of the hilarity that would ensue! "Oops, someone tricked him and he said something offensive in the native language!" "Oh, he fell off the stage!" I smell a Hit....

I smell You're A Star. Ireland already did it. But without the Americans.

Adrian, you're killing my dreams! But I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that it had already been done.

To be honest - I'm inclined to believe this is what they did to find that silly bint of a female presenter. Why did they have to import her from America - she's knows fuck all (at her own admission) about Eurovision. Are there no women in Greece who can speak English, and thus present?

Why couldn't (H)Elena do it?

Interestingly enough, Maria Menounos (spell check) isn't even all that famous here in the USA either. She reports on the Access Hollywood entertainment program and I also think does something on MTV. But she's barely a household name. Didn't she say that they called her parents and they were the ones who told her she should do it?
