I've finally got fed up of housing my CDs in large piles and am looking to get some kind of freestanding shelving for them.
Only problem is, it seems they tend to come in two types: well-designed but with a capacity of about 20 CDs, or really ugly but hold lots.
Anyone know of where I can get well-designed CD shelving that holds a decent number of CDs (i.e. hundreds)? Without spending a fortune, that is.

Boltz are brilliant but I'm not sure whether there is a UK distributor.

I have 10 full Benno CD towers (and 5 with DVDs) and need abut 3-4 more if I bring all office/car/around the house cds together!! Nightmare. I was thinking of ordering someone to make me a "lots of joined Benno's" type thingy but with lots of space for many cds.

Ikea are fine, as long as you don't put too many CDs on the Shelves. I'm talking from bitter experience here, as my shelves collapsed after one week, although I may have overloaded them a little.
Have some made by a carpenter. Mine were surprisingly inexspensive, if a little ugly, but they do the job.

As long as you put them together properly they are OK. I always use a pot of wood glue to stick it all together as well as using the screws and fastenings they provide. Belt and braces approach as my Dad would say.

I do love putting Ikea furniture together though - it brings out my heterosexual side.

Sorry, I should have said they are OK as long as you use them as shelves not stepladders!
I also love putting furniture together or putting up shelves. The best way to do it is to ignore the instructions completely and turn it into a round of the Krypton Factor.
