Anyone got it yet? I saw it on eBay. Is it true there's nothing in it about being the last edition because it was too late to add anything before it was printed? Pathetic!

Out on Monday, no?
It won't say anywhere in it that it's the last issue, but I have heard that a retrospective book is in the offing, as well as PJ's Book of Condolence.

This week's Holy Moly mailout reveals that HM and Popjustice offered Emap £300,000 for the Hits. But they said no.

Oh yes the one one eBay I saw was actually the current issue - I've told the seller to rename his auction.

I have found a massive clutch of back issue Smash Hits in the local library and got them for next to nothing. Pure bliss.

Can I have them when you're done reading them? Are they pre-1987 ones?

Well I bought the last ever issue today, although I'm not opening it up. £2.50 though?? No wonder no one buys it anymore. Looks like theres only about 20 pages in it.

It's easy to see why it got the chop, but I do think Emap could have put a bit more effort into the most recent redesign. Singles reviews were limited to one column. What a shower of shit. The real 'Smash Hits' died for me over a decade ago.

I'll buy a retrospective book if it's like the best Smash Hits annual EVER!!!
But who should be on the cover? Probably Kylie as the main cover star.

Those articles are really interesting and quite funny, seeing as we know so much about them now. I love Cheryl's (surely) over-reaction to hearing Duncan from Blue fancies her - and just why doesn't she mention Ashley Cole? (presumably nobody in Oz knows who he is).
And I really want to know why Cheryl & Nicola call Nadine 'Nelk' and what they saw in Sweden?!

Cheers for those scans, but this interview seems ages old, Blue split agest ago now (newsflash! haha) and Cheryl is getting married? I dont understand how she can talk bullshit like that, any fans in the land of Oz could easily find out all about her on the internet.

The interview is very old, around the release of 'No Good Advice' was when it appeared in the UK Smash Hits... I'm guessing Smash Hits Aus wanted to get a story and interview out on them in time for their promo tour without actually having to do any work.

Just saw Mr PJ bring up the Australian cover on the main page - yep, all popstars on the COVER, but inside it's a different story. Posters of My Chemical Romance, The Used, Yellowcard, Hilltop Hoods (a hip hop act), The Living End and Kisschasy are closely followed by the hilarious 2 page spread on "THE A TO Z OF INDIE"...
Thank goodness for the nice and large Girls Aloud poster.
Ironic that a pop magazine still does well here, but the actual pop - not so much.

Yes, Adem, but at least they are actually music stars. The UK edition of Ver Hits turned into a TV/ celeb type mag, with very little actual 'pop' or indeed 'music'.
The original 'Smash Hits' wasn't just about the 'pop' that's championed on these boards; it was all about whatever was in the charts at the time. I guess it's that whole 'James Blunt is/ isn't pop' argument in a slightly different form.

Sorry, what I meant was 'music stars' (thanks Maureen), rather than people off The OC and so on. And I would imagine that rather than being laziness the reproduction of the UK interview was down to a) No access and/or b) No budget for a new one.
