Has anyone else noticed that some of the themes of netocracy concerning dreams and more 'networked' world coming through in bWo's lyrics? particularly in 'Halcyon Days'. Maybe i'm hearing too hard, but the songs tend to be about either technology and interactivity thus through [ i.e in 'hanging on the telephone' ] but also in other songs you get a sense of an less money-centric world from which Martin is singing from?
Prototype also has references...
'Living in a Fantasy' is perhaps the ''anthem'' to Netocracy? ''dreams are forever, never say never again''
Maybe referencing the fact that netocracy provides the means to proper dream and life goal fufilment... ?
Can you hear the engines burning Tossing and turning Ready to travel beyond ....Shaping the future to come
Chariots of Fire: It’s my dedication to rule aviation I’m certified with the highest degree I strive for perfection you had the connection Now I’ve got God shine his light down on me It ain’t necessary to call Virgin Mary When you have the gift to set my spirit free
Certainly, you could read into this verse that martin could be talking about a talent network... ?
maybe i'm too bored.

That's interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right.
Personally I haven't read Netocracy yet, but I've been meaning to for a long time now. Judging from the reviews I've read it seems really interesting. I must buy it soon.

I'm reading Netocracy at the moment and it did occur to me that there are a lot of references to technology in BWO's lyrics, but I haven't read the whole book yet so I don't know how much it links. It's obvious that Alexander's views are going to come through in his lyrics, though.

Alexander Bard wrote a book called Netocracy. It's a mix of philosophy, sociology and economics, so don't buy it if you want the written equivalent of BWO, but if you're interested in those subjects then it's certainly worth a read. It seems to have gone out of print in the UK but you can get it through Amazon Used & New for about £5 including postage.

BWO are a band based on Deleuze/Guattari...Kylie(but not Madonna) was doing it long before though. BwO is a concept taken from Anti-Œdipus and Foucault even did an introduction. It concerns deterritorialization, subjectivity, desire and states of vitalism.
