Am the only one really disapointed by Beyoncé and her new single?
I thought Crazy in Love was a stonking (!) pop tune, but Baby Boy is just a horrible hash-up of someone trying desperately to be something they are not.
Also, I hate the video with her writhing around like some kind of oily, but retarded worm-thing.
Didn't she mastermind "Nasty put some clothes on"?
She has totally tumbled in my estimations. She will probably go onto to be the new Whitney/Mariah or whatever, but I would just like to state my dissapointment.

Her album isn't as good as Crazy In Love. None of it. Except Bonnie and Clyde, but that's a bonus track.
It's better than the other Baby Boy by Big Brovaz, which makes me violent.

at first i thought baby boy was terrible and a shoddy rip off of breathe but i like it increasingly. its designed to show off beyonce's sexual side, whereas crazy was all about her energy as a performer. and we all know that the key to a great vocalist is that they can be sexy and energetic and crazy and all sorts of other things. that's why i like the song now. i think it shows off a different aspect of her talent. also - her voice really can't be fucked with and she's really really hot

I don't like it. I think it's remarkably unclassy for someone who always strived to be classier than everyone else.

It's better than the other Baby Boy by Big Brovaz Talk about damning with faint praise..... I find this video rather offputting, entirely apart from the not-great song. She looks so hard-faced and obvious, which I don't find sexy in the slightest. And Sean Paul is on there, which I don't believe has ever been a Good Thing. She used to look like she was having fun.

she was a kid in destiny's child. now she's a woman. destiny's child made very pop rnb. now she's made a grown up, sophisticated rnb album. of course she wants to project a more serious, less playful image. that's part of growing up whether you're a singer or just a normal person. and the thing about sean paul being a bad thing is so not true. his last three singles have been the absolute best
and i think baby boy is a much classier song than crazy in love. it has a slow sensual vibe whereas crazy in love was much more instant and in your face. and let's face it, the lack of clothes is hardly a new developement. she was hardly wearing a lot of clothes in the survivor video, or the bootylicious video

Although it's grown on me slightly since I first heard it (and skipped it), I still think it's nowhere near the towering heights of Crazy In Love. I think they chose it as a single because of the current popularity of Sean Paul, frankly.
What do you think the next single will/should be? I adore Signs, and how slaggy it is (she seems to have slept with at least 12 people recently), and it also makes me jealous of Aquarians, who apparently "got game".

Also, this may have been discussed already, but has anyone heard 'Fighting Temptation' from, appropriately, the Fighting Temptations soundtrack? The video has suspiciously disappeared from beyonceonline.com and destinyschild.com, but is up now at mtv.com www.mtv.com/music/video/premiere/beyonce_fighting_temptation/I think it's mighty, and I especially like when B is dancing with her arms up and a rainbow streaming out from behind her.

I can only assume that the A&R kindergarten meeting went something like: - Sean Paul is hot at the moment - wait, isn't there a track with Sean Paul on the Beyonce album - I know, let's realease that as the single - great idea guys, now lets snort something else..... "Crazy In Love" is an undisputed pop masterpiece, but aside from "Naughty Girl" - which is almost as good - and the previous singles, the album is shockingly weak.

Now she's said she's going to be doing a new album......
.......except she isn't. Her new album in February will just feature tracks that didn't make the cut for "Dangerously in Love" which will hardly be a great selling point since most people found her album disappointing since she did hardly any tracks as good as "Crazy In Love". "Hey these tracks weren't good enough before but buy them now" is quite lazy as well.
The only reason they've gone for this is the success of "Summertime", an unused track that was recently serviced to radio.
She also reckons she, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will be hooking up again in the new year to work on a new Detiny's Child album "because everybody has grown so much. It's been a couple of years. I know the sound is going to mature and be a little different. We have to figure it out."
And yes "Baby Boy" did just seemed to be an excuse for the record company to get two of the biggest "Hey I'll collaborate with you and you and you" acts together.

'Keep Giving Your Love To Me' from the Bad Boys II soundtrack is better than anything on the intolerably dull second half of the album.
If the record company carry on being idiotic and don't release 'Naughty Girl', 'Hip Hop Star' would be my preferred alternative. Although i fear that they're going to push something slushly and poo instead. Bah.

Better than anything on the intolerably dull last three-quarters of the album, I reckon. At least. In fact, it's pretty much better than anything except for Crazy In Love. But in particular way way way better than the last three-quarters, which is unbelievably rubbish.

It hasn't been removed from it's original cellophane wrapping yet. And since Beyonce's next album will be all the shoddy songs, I bet I will really be impressed, seeming as I didn't even like the current one.

Baby Boy is ok, its a grower but not amazing or anything. It is nice for B to have a new single though, i'm really getting bored on Crazy In Love - think i'll love it again in about 6 months. Hope that if she does release a third single from this album that it will be Rock Star.
I'm guessing that the February album will have more than just left overs from Dangerously In Love, because if they were worthy of a release they wouldn't have put so much crap on DIL. Then again, Summertime is better than most of the tracks on DIL.
I think the theme to The Fighting Temptations (called "Fighting Temptations" by Beyoncé, Missy Elliott, MC Lyte and Free) is still available on mp3sfinder.com. The soundtrack was released a few weeks ago. I bought it but haven't really listened to a whole lot of it yet. Rougly half of it are Beyoncé tracks. There's one Destiny's Child song too - a ballad that isn't very exciting. Couple of good gospel tracks on that album too. Of beyonce's tracks, as far as i remember most are covers - like that old FEVER track.

Naughty girl has to be the next single.
if it's some crappy ballad I will eat my hat and/or my hands.
That sample of 'Love to love you' is awesome - I enjoy that song as much as 'Crazy in *hearting*.'

I'm sure Beyonce's turning into Holly Valance.
All her writhing and the middle eastern feel is very Holly.
Also the sweaty feel of the Baby Boy video is very similar to the Down Boy video.
And Beyonce's third single is possibly gonna be Naughty Girl!!!
What next? Beyonce going electro?

Which will be great since it's her father that manages her.

beyonce is an unbelievable talent. so far the songs haven't been all that but eventually people will start giving her their best material and she will take over the world. i'm serious. she has the looks, the voice, the charisma and the stage presence. popjustice is one of the few places where most people seem to be against her. i think she is amazing. when she sings well it makes my spine tingle. that doesn't happen with anyone else. i want to marry her too!

There's a large part of me that doesn't want to hear Beyoncé's album on the grounds that so many people have said it was disappointing. I don't think my nervous system could stand the shock of not being blown away by anything she's done.
Then again, I'm about the only person I know who favours Survivor as the superior Destiny's Child album over The Writing's On The Wall. But I stand by my decision, because all music should be like Nasty Girl. Well, not all music, that would be silly. But all music should be that classy and all uses of samples should be as inspired as the rip of Push It.

popjustice is one of the few places where most people seem to be against her. I love ol' Bouncy, but her Destiny's Child stuff is better. I doubt DC could ever do something as good as Crazy In Love though. I like her album, it's just not all up to the standard of CIL.

I don't think people here are against Beyonce, I think it is more the disappointment of her album. That it didn't live up to the promise of Crazy in Love.
Not that I'm saying her album is crap, if you're a fan of mid-tempo r+b then you'll probably love it (or not, I ain't a fan so I couldn't possibly judge if it's good or bad r+b).
Crazy in Love's style doesn't really fit the rest of the album, it sounds like a Destiny's Child style pop/r+b track on an album of Beyonce r+b.

After all the hype I found the Beyonce album to be a major disappointment. With the exception of "Crazy...", which is truely ace. Obviously.
The rest of the album just sounds like Generic R&B Album No. 57.

BUT and it's a big But(t) "Naughty Girl" is an undeniable classic, easily up to the standards of Beyonce's own history...and an essential edition to any MP3 CD collection.
