First, has anyone seen the video for Don't Tell Me? It's nice and simple, suits the song, rather good. She seems to have gone to Get Real School, as the fake-ness isn't there anymore.
Also, the second single from the new album is 'Take Me Away.' It's a corker.
The bit before the chorus goes 'Taaaaakkkkkkeeeee' and it's much better than the 'Ahhhh ahhhhh ahhhh ahhh ahhhhh' bit in Toxic.
Anyway.

The songs reminds me of Amy Studt's Under The Thumb.
The video. Well I saw a bit of it on TOTP Saturday and to be honest I thought the wearing skimpy little shorts contradicts what she wants to stand for. Then again I dont find her image believable in the first place so its no big shock.

This is the album sleeve: click2music.ca/avril/images/packshot144.jpg[/img]Looks like someone is trying a little too hard to be edgy. I'm not happy about the title either - it reminds me too much of Jessica Simpleton, whose next album, with any luck, will be titled 'In This Soundproofed Chamber'.

Don't Tell Me would be bearable if it wasn't for those god-awful lyrics.
I will probably end up buying her album however, because I do like Avril usually; Let Go was excellent.

What's her new album called? I can't read it from that picture.

More worryingly, it doesn't sound like the lead-off from a major 'event' album (as UMS is, since Let Go sold 12m copies). It sounds like an album-filler. I cringed when she referred to it on CD:UK as her 'girl power song'. How 90s!

That album cover is excellent — much better than the cheap catastrophe that was Let Go. Daydream and Take Me Away are both great, can't wait for the album now. Besides Let Go was ace.

In This Skin. Under This Skin. Can't she be abit more original?

In This Skin. Under This Skin. Can't she be abit more original? It's called Under My Skin, I made a mistake. But the album seems very personal: Daydream; boyfriend trouble, Nobody's Home; rather strange, from a 'she's this and she's that' point of view.

Avril Lavigne is not attractive. Avril Lavigne is not attractive. Avril Lavigne is not attractive. Avril Lavigne is not fit in any way. She looks like a lizard. It's not working. Help!

But the album seems very personal: Though unlike her first album which she also says was about her life and experiences she actually had some writing input on this one. That's original. And that sounds worryingly like a female version of Sk8er Boi.

For anyone interested which seems hardly noone, Daydream isn't on the album. But there is a bonus track on the Japanese version which may be it. But not on the US version.

Well, they had a problem with this record cuz she refused to take outside songs (as she did with the matrix songs...and she then changed a few things to get writting credit), and she and the matrix dont like each other any more so that colaboration didn't happen. When LA ried was kicked out of Arista everyone said her album was done but then Clive Davis didn't think it was all there but she wouldn't take outside songs that he found for her...so dont be surprised if it doesn't go amazingly well for her this time. (unless one of the other singles connects). My publisher was telling me the first single isn't really working in the states (it's just doing OK)..but if it really really doesn't connect, there is a possibility they may push back the album date and Mr Davis may force her to do an outside song just for the sake of having a monster hit.

Take Me Away is a monster hit, so is My Happy Ending. And definetly Daydream.. why the fuck did they release Don't Tell Me then not put Daydream on the album....!

This album has had terrible promotion. I mean all I know about it is what I've seen here. The hype behind this should be huge. Avril was so successful but the marketing doesn't seem to have cottoned on to this...

Yes, because she mouthed off too much about writing her own songs and got caught out by an increasingly annoyed matrix who got sick of her taking credit for their work. When she said "Do you think two, thirty year old guys could've wrote stuff like Sk8er Boi?" I don't think she was expecting the two thirty year old guys that did to contradict her.

I think this is a lot of the reason that people dislike her. She was portrayed as some sort of song writing prodigy, when whether she actually did anything on the songs is dubious.

The song sounds soooooo much like Complicated... quite frankly it's boring me! The video is not too great - yeah, how hardcore to break a mirror! And I don't see why she's gone all girly all of a sudden, wearing pink vest tops - and where are her trousers? I really am not a massive fan of Avril...

Yea..I was a bit shocked that the Matrix came out and said that.. Even if it was true, producers and writers usually dont do things like that..they let the artists have the credit, and the industry usually knows who REALLY wrote the songs, and to writers and producers thats what counts.. But I can understand that the matrix got a bit frusterated cuz she was telling EVERYONE she wrote the songs, which is unfair..... There is another very famouse pop star who wont ever get another song from her main 'hit man' because she went to the press and took credit for a song she just changed a line in. ...So artists have to watch what they say.
