I saw them at La Belle Angel in Edinburgh last year, just a few days before the venue burnt down to the ground, so it will always have a special place in my heart. But ignoring the historical aspects to it, it was an ace gig in itself. For a start, despite being a nominally indie band, they look excellent, Mira in particullary just gives off an air of icy bored coolness which is fantastic, most notably brill in the way she would lean over from her keyboard to the microphone to do her talky bits in Seventeen. Ladytron understand pop. They aren't trying to be obscure or elitist, despite the genre they record in, they want to be on Top of the Pops. And soon enough, they will be, and the world of music will be excellent once again.

How ace does this sound? It's a Ladytron's compilation album! Softcore Jukebox 14. Codec & Flexor - Crazy Girls Crazy Girls is actually worth the price of admission all on it's own....a crunching hard-core sample over dancing percussion, topped off with an insanely catchy vocal and a very LFO synth hook. This sort of thing should be gracing the top 10. Maybe in 2005 it will be.
