Hello there.
Has anyone heard of them? What do you think?
They had a single out last year - Dirty Mind (sounded like Big Audio Dynamites' E-MC2) which was nice, and last month released "Your Kisses are wasted on me" with the equally brilliant "Your guitars are wasted on me" as a b-side.
Very Phil Spector sounding girly pop from Brighton. And they have a mini tour around London in the next few days if you want to see them live

I saw them live last weekend and they were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I absolutely love them. Haven't heard "Your Guitars Are Wasted On Me", but judging on the title it sounds brilliant.

The Pipettes are awesome I saw them with the Magic Numbers last year and was fueled with seratonin for weeks on end.
And I'm so glad they have made the top 40.
And since this place is very bitchy "And Girls Aloud totally stole their look"

Yeah, numerous threads but I must 'big them up' too. Great to see them in the charts. Apparently the next single will be Pull Shapes, with the album hopefully to follow.
Must be seen live. Simply must.

Indie and Bubblegum are not two words you often see together to describe a song but it's strangely apt to describe Pull Shapes, the new single from the Pipettes. You can listen to it on their MySpace page. www.myspace.com/thepipettesI always thought that the recipe for that kind of song had been lost sometime around 1971 but, apparently it has not. Think Emma Bunton's Maybe sung by Diana Ross & The Supremes and produced by a still sane Phil Spector in full disco mode.

The album is 33 minutes of perfect pop

The one with glasses looks like Kitty Sanchez from Arrested Development. I thought Dirty Mind was crap the first few times I heard it, although it is growing on me; Your Kisses was better, but Pull Shapes is absolutely splendid. Do they write the songs themselves?

They do, sometimes with their band, sometimes alone...alas it looks like they don't perform I Like A Boy In Uniform (School Uniform) anymore...

I can now confirm that the album is spectacular. It Hurts To See You Dance So Well is now a two minute epic!
